MLB Player Prop Bet Odds, Picks & Predictions

Ty France O/U 1.5 Total Bases

The Mariners cruised to a 4-0 win yesterday behind a first inning RBI-double from Eugenio Suarez and a two-run long ball from Cal Raleigh. That was plenty enough run support for Luis Castillo, who slung 7.1 scoreless innings and earned the win in game one over the Blue Jays. The victory was the first playoff win for the M’s since 2001, a stretch spanning over two decades and a total of 7,657 days (per ESPN). Seattle and Toronto square off for game two this afternoon at 4:07 p.m. ET with a pitching matchup featuring Robbie Ray and Kevin Gausman.

Gausman wrapped up his inaugural campaign with Toronto going 12-10 over 31 starts and boasting a 3.35 ERA (25th) and 1.24 WHIP (36th). However, he didn’t necessarily finish the regular season strong. Over his final eight starts, Gausman posted a 4.37 ERA and 1.24 WHIP while allowing eight home runs.

The righty made one start against Seattle this season and went 5.0 innings, allowing two earned runs on seven hits and a walk. Over his full career, the current Mariners’ roster is 28-100 (.280) with two bombs and eight doubles. I’m going to narrow in on Ty France and lock in the over on his total bases this afternoon. The first baseman is 3-7 (.429) against Gausman with a double and hit .372 (16-43) over his final 10 games of the regular season.

Bet: Ty France Over 1.5 Total Bases (+140 via DraftKings)

George Springer O/U 1.5 Total Bases

Ray gets the nod this afternoon and makes his return to Toronto, where he spent a year and some change with the club and won the 2021 Cy Young award. The right-hander hasn’t been as dominant in his debut season with the Mariners, posting a 12-12 record to go along with a 3.71 ERA (32nd) and 1.19 WHIP (31st). Furthermore, Ray didn’t finish the regular season on a high note, going 0-4 with a 5.27 ERA and 1.32 WHIP over his final five starts.

As for the head-to-head numbers, his former team is 14-58 (.241) against him with four home runs and three doubles. One man has caused a majority of the damage and that’s George Springer. The star outfielder is 6-15 (.400) against Ray with two big flies and a pair of doubles. He’s coming off a 2-3 (.667) day at the plate yesterday and I think he keeps it rolling as his team has its back against the wall. I’m going to take the over on 1.5 total bases for Springer.

Bet: George Springer Over 1.5 Total Bases (+130 via DraftKings)

Josh Bell O/U 1.5 Total Bases

Josh Bell got the party started early last night in Queens with a two-run blast in the top of the first inning. The Padres would hit three more homers off of Max Scherzer en route to a 7-1 victory in game one. San Diego looks to close out the 101-win Mets this evening as they turn to Blake Snell to handle the starting pitching responsibilities. New York counters with Jacob deGrom in this N.L. showdown slated for 7:37 p.m. ET.

deGrom was only able to make 11 starts during the regular season and finished at 5-4 with a 3.08 ERA and 0.75 WHIP. While his ERA is a tick-up over his career mark of 2.52, his punchout numbers were still phenomenal. The two-time Cy Young winner struck out 102 batters over 64.1 innings, which would equate to a career-high number of 14.3 K/9 if stretched out over a normal 30+ start season.

The ace has performed well against the Padres roster over his career, holding them to a .190 batting average over 100 at-bats (19 hits). Josh Bell is hitless at 0-6 (.000) with three strikeouts. Aside from his key moment in last night’s game, the switch hitter has been pretty silent over the last month-plus. Since the beginning of September, Bell is just 17-85 (.200) with one home run and one double. I lean towards deGrom turning in a masterful performance tonight while keeping Bell hitless in the process.

Bet: Josh Bell Under 1.5 Total Bases (-105 via DraftKings)

Starling Marte O/U 0.5 Total Bases

The Friars go with Blake Snell and he finished the regular season at 8-10 with a 3.38 ERA and 1.20 WHIP. He had a rocky start to the year, but finished strong with five quality starts over seven outings. The southpaw’s ERA over that span (41.0 IP) was 1.54 and he posted a 0.90 WHIP. Safe to say, Snell’s feeling good heading into tonight’s game as he has a chance to advance his team to the next round.

However, it’s not all positive for Snell ahead of game two. New York has his number, going 28-108 (.259) against him with three homers and six doubles. Starling Marte is 5-15 (.333) against the lefty with a long ball and a double. He was electric in last night’s loss, going 2-4 (.500)  with two knocks and two stolen bases. While offense is tough to come by in the postseason, I like for Marte to record at least one hit tonight and clear his over on total bases.

Bet: Starling Marte Over 0.5 Total Bases (-160 via DraftKings)
