MLB Player Prop Bet Odds, Picks & Predictions: Tuesday (10/10)

The Texas Rangers are on the verge of sweeping the 101-win Baltimore Orioles, while the Minnesota Twins and Houston Astros play a pivotal Game 3 after splitting the first two games of their five-game series. Per MLB’s Sarah Langs, the Twins have the historical edge when heading home for the next two games.

Royce Lewis Over 0.5 RBIs vs. Astros (+135)

Though it is a small sample size, current Minnesota Twins hitters are 0-for-15 in their careers against Astros righty Cristian Javier. However, with the Twins being -134 moneyline favorites and the Over juiced to -118, we expect Minnesota to have offensive success and Royce Lewis to be at the center.

In Lewis’s first-ever playoff game, a home game against the Toronto Blue Jays, he reached base in his first three at-bats, hit two home runs, and drove in all three of his team’s runs. The two home runs made him the 10th player in MLB history with multiple home runs in his playoff debut, and he has an outstanding chance of elevating Javier’s pitches, as the righty ranks in the first percentile in ground ball rate. Javier also ranks in the bottom quarter of the league in barrels, and he pitched to a disappointing 5.17 ERA on the road this season. Lewis has slashed .333/.484/.708 in his last seven games and has 35 RBIs in his previous 30. We expect the run-producing machine to plate another run today.

Nathan Eovaldi Over 2.5 earned runs vs. Orioles (+135)

The Orioles are one game away from being swept out of the playoffs in three games, but they can be confident heading to Texas for Game 3, as Baltimore tied Atlanta for the most road wins (52) this season. In addition, Baltimore was not swept in any series of two or more games all season and has not been swept in three or more games since Adley Rutschman’s call-up in May 2022. Per Sarah Langs, 17 teams made the playoffs after never being swept in a regular season series, and only one (the 1998 San Diego Padres) was swept in the playoffs.

Lost amid the Orioles’ 11-8 loss on Sunday was the fact that they pounded 14 hits in 41 at-bats, with eight of those hits going for extra bases. Rangers righty Nathan Eovaldi knows a thing or two about being involved in high-scoring affairs, as the Over has gone 14-8-4 in his 26 appearances this season. Eovaldi has made 11 quality starts this season, and he threw a gem (he allowed one earned run over 6 â…” innings against Tampa Bay) in his first start this postseason. However, he pitched to more contact this year (8.3 K/9 rate) than any year since 2018, which is dangerous when facing an Orioles lineup that ranked in the top nine of MLB and fourth in the AL in BABIP (.305) in the regular season.

Baltimore scored just 21 total runs in its final eight regular season games but should be able to use the momentum from their offensive output in Game 2 to get to Eovaldi early tonight.
