MLB Player Prop Bet Odds, Picks & Predictions: Wednesday (4/12)

It’s a getaway day for most teams in the MLB today. Therefore, there are a ton of afternoon games on the slate.

But don’t worry. If you’re tuning into this article a bit later, when some games are already being played, I’ve also added some player props for the small night slate. Let’s get after it!

Wednesday’s Best MLB Player Props

Chicago White Sox vs. Minnesota Twins

The White Sox will send out Lucas Giolito for another start today. Dating back to last season, he’s struck out 25% of batters faced.

Today, he’ll take on a Twins lineup that has struck out 26.6% of the time against righties using this year’s and last year’s stats.

Only Jose Miranda has a strikeout percentage below 21% against righties in Minnesota’s projected lineup. Through two games, Giolito has struck out nine batters in nine innings. With the way Minnesota’s lineup has hit against righties, I’d like to think Giolito can at least get six innings under his belt.

If he can do that, I like him to get Over 5.5 strikeouts. We’re getting plus money against a lineup that strikes out a lot.

Bet: Lucas Giolito Over 5.5 Ks (+110)

St. Louis Cardinals vs. Colorado Rockies

The Cardinals added nine runs last night against the Rockies. Nothing will change tonight.

Jose Urena will take the hill for the Rockies. He’s 0-2 with a 14.40 ERA through two starts. In two starts, Urena has just one strikeout. He’s also allowed a WHIP of 3.80 and hasn’t pitched beyond the third inning in either start.

Paul Goldschmidt and Nolan Arenado should destroy Urena with a couple of at-bats against him.

Goldschmidt has hit a .213 ISO and wOBA of .373 against righties over his last 554 plate appearances against righties. Meanwhile, Arenado has hit a .194 ISO and wOBA of .365 against righties in his last 538 plate appearances against righties.

Urena has allowed an above-average ISO to righties through his last 211 plate appearances against righties. Look for the two big bats in the Cardinals lineup to continue slugging away.

Bet: Paul Goldschmidt Over 1.5 Total Bases (-220)
Bet: Nolan Arenado Over 1.5 Total Bases (-190)

Detroit Tigers vs. Toronto Blue Jays

Kevin Gausman is currently 1-1 but has a 0.00 ERA. Funny how that works. Gausman has struck out 14 batters in 12 innings and looks really good on the mound to begin the year.

Tonight, he’ll face a Detroit Tigers lineup that has struck out 27.5% of the time against righties using last year’s and this year’s stats.

There’s not a single Detroit batter striking out less than 23% of the time against righties. The Tigers have also hit a .147 ISO and wOBA of .286 against righties since last year. Gausman could throw a complete game shutout for all I know.

I’ll take some plus-money on Gausman and ride the Over 7.5 strikeouts in tonight’s contest. Gausman has struck out over 28% of batters faced and won’t have much competition tonight other than Kerry Carpenter, who has some power against righties.

Bet: Kevin Gausman Over 7.5 Ks (+116)
