MLB Player Prop Bet Odds, Picks & Predictions: Wednesday (6/28)

Although it’s a Wednesday, most of today’s MLB slate will be played at night.

There are plenty of enticing matchups that I’m ready to exploit. Here are three player props to consider for tonight’s matchups:

(Odds courtesy of FanDuel Sportsbook)

Matt McLain Over 1.5 Total Bases (+100)

Matt McLain is having an incredible rookie season. He won’t be talked about like Elly De La Cruz or Corbin Carroll. But he deserves a lot of respect, as well.

McLain has hit a .190 ISO and wOBA of .374 against his last 92 righties.

Tonight, he’ll face Kyle Gibson, who has allowed righties to hit a .234 ISO and wOBA of .437 over the last 30 days. Gibson’s not getting a lot of strikeouts against righties and is allowing 26.3% of line drives in that same time.

McLain is hitting 47.5% of hard contact against righties with close to 30% fly balls and line drives against righties over the last 30 days. With McLain batting near the top of the order, he’s in a great position to add at least two total bases to the box score tonight.

Mitch Keller Under 5.5 K’s (+100)

Mitch Keller has struck out 27.7% of batters this season. However, he’s only struck out 21.7% of batters in the last month. His numbers are trending downward.

Keller has struck out 18.8% of righties and 24.6% of lefties. He’s also allowed lefties to hit a .158 ISO and wOBA of .360 with nearly 11% of walks.

San Diego has just three batters striking out more than 20% of the time against righties. The Padres, instead, walk 10.3% of the time with their projected lineup and have five players hitting a wOBA of at least .322 against righties in the last month.

Keller doesn’t have many targets when it comes to strikeouts. Meanwhile, the Padres have been hard to strike out consistently for right-handed pitchers.

Josh Jung Over 1.5 Total Bases (-115)

Josh Jung has hit a .296 ISO and wOBA of .392 against his last 28 lefties this season. He’s struck out only 17.9% of the time and has minimized grounders while hitting 54.5% of hard contact against lefties.

Joey Wentz will take center stage for the Tigers tonight. Wentz is a lefty, giving up a .229 ISO and woBA of .376 to righties this season. Things have stayed on par over the last month, with Wentz allowing a .211 ISO and wOBA of .325 in the previous month against righties.

Wentz hasn’t earned many ground balls and has given up over 50% of hard contact to righties. He’s also given up over 25% of line drives and close to 30% of fly balls to righties in the last 30 days.

Jung has destroyed lefties. Tonight should be no different, especially with the wind blowing to left field at 11 mph. It’ll also be close to 100 degrees outside in Texas. That should help the buy fly if the roof stays open.
