MLB Player Prop Bet Odds, Picks & Predictions: Wednesday (8/2)

We’ve got tons of action with today’s MLB slate. Six of the 15 games will be played in the daytime. Therefore, there will be baseball on for more than 12 hours straight.

Here are a couple of player props to consider for tonight’s games in the MLB.

Wednesday’s Best MLB Player Props

(Odds courtesy of FanDuel Sportsbook)

Grayson Rodriguez Under 4.5 Ks (+114)

Grayson Rodriguez has watched his strikeout rate against righties dip from 25.7 percent on the season to just 19 percent in the last month. Rodriguez has limited the walks against righties and has allowed a .050 ISO and wOBA of .305 over the previous month to righties.

However, he’s facing a Blue Jays lineup that has only struck out 21.9 percent of the time against righties over the last month. Rodriguez is averaging under 90 pitches per start and has allowed a .242 ISO and wOBA of .390 throughout the season.

Rodriguez has been much better in his second stint with the team. However, he likely won’t earn a high strikeout rate against a Blue Jays team with at least six righties in the lineup.

Matt McLain Over 1.5 Total Bases (-120)

The Cincinnati Reds have been awful against left-handed pitching over the last 30 days. But the one bat that has potential is Matt McLain.

He’ll face Drew Smyly of the Cubs. The left-hander has a .314 ISO and wOBA of .453 against his last 83 batters. Smyly has averaged just 84 pitches per game over the previous month and has watched righties hit a .308 ISO and wOBA of .446 with nearly 46% of line drives.

McLain has hit a .443 wOBA and has only struck out 15 percent of the time against lefties in the last 30 days. The right-handed rookie has minimized ground balls to 38.5 percent and has a 53.8 percent of line drive rate against lefties.

McLain is hitting a lot of hard contact against lefties, while Smyly is allowing a 54.1% hard contact rate to the last 62 lefties faced. Let’s give McLain a shot. Take him to get Over 1.5 total bases.

Adolis Garcia Over 1.5 Total Bases (+140)

Dylan Cease was not moved at the MLB Trade Deadline. Therefore, he’ll get the start for Chicago against Adolis Garcia and the Texas Rangers. Garcia has slugged a .328 ISO and wOBA of .420 against his last 64 righties. He’s also struck out under 22 percent of the time against righties.

Meanwhile, Cease has allowed a .175 ISO and wOBA of .362 to his last 46 righties. Cease will earn a high amount of ground balls but has also allowed nearly 27 percent of line drives and fly balls over the previous month to righties.

He’s also allowing 50 percent of hard contact, and Garcia is hitting 47.7 percent against righties over the last 30 days. He’s also smacked over 40 percent of fly balls and line drives against righties in the previous month. Let’s live on the edge a little bit.

Take Garcia to earn two total bases against Dylan Cease and the Chicago White Sox. Once Cease leaves the game, the Rangers will face one of baseball’s worst and most depleted bullpens. That will only help Garcia if he doesn’t get two total bases against Cease earlier in the game.
