Wednesday’s Best MLB Player Props

(Odds courtesy of FanDuel Sportsbook)

Cal Raleigh Over 1.5 Total Bases (-115)

The Reds will start Lyon Richardson against the Mariners in tonight’s game. Richardson is a right-handed pitcher, allowing a .263 ISO and wOBA of .422 to his last 25 lefties. He has given up a .276 ISO and wOBA of .420 to 36 lefties this season.

He’ll face Cal Raleigh in the middle of the Mariners order. Raleigh is a switch-hitter who will hit lefty. He has a .329 ISO and wOBA of .400 against his last 79 righties. Raleigh has a high strikeout rate; however, Richardson has only struck out 13.9% of lefties this season.

The power-hitting catcher has smacked 43.8% of fly balls and line drives and hit 58% of hard contact over the last month against righties. Let’s back him to get at least two total bases tonight.

Brandon Nimmo Over 1.5 Total Bases (+115)

Brandon Nimmo is red hot for the Mets right now. He added two more home runs last night and has over 20 home runs on the season.

Nimmo has smacked a .206 ISO and wOBA of .416 against his last 76 righties. He’s also limited strikeouts to just 18.4% in that time frame.

He’ll go up against Joan Adon, who has allowed a .256 ISO and wOBA of .405 to his last 40 lefties. Adon has also allowed a .267 ISO and wOBA of .369 to 62 lefties this year.

Nimmo’s power surge has been incredible this season. He’s smacked over 30% of fly balls and line drives and has hit 49% of hard contact in the last 30 days against righties. With Nimmo at the top of the order, let’s take him to earn at least two total bases tonight.

Clarke Schmidt Over 6.5 Ks (+140)

I’ll take a gamble here. Clarke Schmidt has struck out 26.5% of batters in the last month despite only striking out 22.7% this season.

His strikeout rate is up, and now he’ll face a Tigers’ projected lineup that has struck out 27.5% of the time against righties in the last 30 days.

Only Miguel Cabrera has stuck out fewer than 27% of the time against righties in the last month. Therefore, there are eight targets in the Detroit lineup that Schmidt can earn strikeouts against consistently.

Schmidt has also watched his pitch count rise over the last month. He’s averaged about 81 pitches this season. However, he’s thrown over 89 pitches per start in the previous 30 days. Schmidt has also limited walks and has earned a 25.7% whiff rate, along with over 12% swinging strikes in the last 30 days. Those are both above-average numbers in the MLB.

Let’s take plus money on Schmidt to earn seven strikeouts or more.
