Fridayâs Best MLB Player Prop Bets
Letâs dive into our top three MLB player prop bets and picks for todayâs slate of games.
(Odds courtesy of DraftKings Sportsbook)
Aaron Nola Over 6.5 Ks (+115)
The Phillies will play the San Francisco Giants at home to begin a three-game weekend-long series. Aaron Nola will start for Philadelphia. Heâs already struck out 31.6% of righties and held teams to a wOBA of just .298 with 45.6% of ground balls to begin the season.
Nola might only face four righties in the San Francisco lineup tonight. However, those four righties have combined to strike out 26% of the time against righties since last season.
Meanwhile, a couple of lefties in the San Francisco lineup have struck out at least 26.4% of the time against righties.
That ultimately gives Nola six targets in the San Francisco lineup. Plus, while Nola has struck out just 14.1% of lefties this season, he added 24.4% of strikeouts against lefties last season. Heâll likely add higher strikeouts against lefties as the season progresses.
Therefore, Iâll take the plus-money Over.
Patrick Corbin Under 3.5 Ks (-140)
The Nationals will give Patrick Corbin another start. Heâll take on the Toronto Blue Jays in an exciting interleague matchup. Corbin has struck out only 14.9% of batters to begin the season. While that seems low, itâs in line with last yearâs stats, when he struck out 15.7% of batters.
Beyond his strikeout numbers, Corbin has allowed a .211 ISO and wOBA of .415 to his first 148 batters. Itâs unlikely he will last very long against the Blue Jays.
Since last year, Torontoâs projected lineup has struck out just 17.2% of the time against lefties. Only Davis Schneider has struck out more than 19% of the time against lefties.
Plus, the Blue Jays have hit a .357 wOBA against lefties since last year using their projected lineup. Take Corbin to go Under 3.5 Ks tonight.
Tyler Nevin Over 1.5 Total Bases (+140)
There wonât be many times this season when the Athletics are favored, but tonight is one of those nights.
The Athletics are taking on Ryan Weathers of the Marlins, a lefty pitcher who has allowed a .209 ISO and wOBA of .391 to righties to begin the season. Weathers has also struck out just 16% of righties and allowed 28.6% of line drives to righties.
Meanwhile, heâs in line to face Tyler Nevin, who has smacked a .268 ISO and wOBA of .406 with just 17.2% of strikeouts in his first 64 plate appearances against lefties.
Nevin has hit 43.5% of fly balls, 56.5% of hard contact, and a 13% barrel percentage. Why not take a shot on his MLB player prop bet at two total bases for +140?
