Top 5 MLB Player Prop Bets Odds, Picks & Predictions for Saturday (9/3)

It’s getting to that time of the year when we pretty much get a stacked sports schedule every single day. With a UFC card in France this afternoon, all five major European soccer leagues in action, the return of college football, and a 15-game MLB slate, this can easily turn into one of those days where you don’t leave the couch very often. My focus is still on baseball as the regular season winds down, and below I’ve listed my top five player props for today.

Starling Marte O/U 1.5 Total Bases

The Mets picked up their third straight win last night and start their three-game weekend series with the Nationals at 1-0. They’ll turn to former National Max Scherzer tonight in the Big Apple while the Curly W’s go with Patrick Corbin in this divisional clash set for 7:10 p.m. ET.

While I haven’t looked at the bottom feeders too closely, I feel confident in saying that Patrick Corbin has been the worst starting pitcher in baseball this year. The southpaw comes in at just 5-17 with a 6.56 ERA and 1.76 WHIP over 26 starts. However, Corbin is coming off of a quality start against the Reds on Sunday in a game where he went 6.0 innings and allowed two runs (one earned) on four hits and a walk.

Unfortunately for Corbin, he’s running into a red hot Mets club that are swinging the sticks well. That includes Starling Marte, who’s hitting .293 (20th) on the year with 16 home runs (65th) and a .818 OPS (28th). He’s seen the lefty well in his career, going 10-36 (.278) with a pair of doubles and a big fly. Let’s lock in his over on total bases tonight in Queens.

Bet: Starling Marte Over 1.5 Total Bases (+115 via DraftKings)

Pete Alonso O/U 1.5 Total Bases

Moving down the lineup a couple of spots, I’m going to take the over on Pete Alonso’s total bases number as well. The star first baseman sits at .270 (46th) this season with  32 long balls (5th) and an OPS of .859 (15th). Polar Bear Pete went deep in last night’s 7-3 win and drew a walk in a 1-3 effort at the plate. As for the head-to-head numbers, Alonso is 13-34 (.382) against Corbin, with five homers and two doubles. That equates to a 1.394 OPS against the lefty.

Bet: Pete Alonso Over 1.5 Total Bases (+110 via DraftKings)

Jeff McNeil O/U 1.5 Total Bases

Let’s keep it in the same game one final time and take a shot with the +160 payout on Jeff McNeil’s over on total bases. The second baseman is hitting .319 (3rd) with an OPS of .825 (24th) and seven homers. As you can guess, he’s also seen Corbin well in his career, going 9-26 (.346) against him with a double and eight singles.

It’s also worth mentioning that the Nationals own the 20th-ranked bullpen ERA at 4.13 and sit at 18th in bullpen WHIP at 1.32. Should Corbin turn in a decent start, these sluggers should have a couple of opportunities against a subpar arm barn tonight.

Bet: Jeff McNeil Over 1.5 Total Bases (+160 via DraftKings)

Mookie Betts O/U 1.5 Total Bases

The Padres won last night’s series opener with the Dodgers in a 7-1 effort. They’ll look to keep it rolling as Bob Melvin gives Sean Manaea the nod tonight. The Dodgers counter with Julio Urias in this rivalry game set for 9:10 p.m. ET from Dodger Stadium.

Sean Manaea hasn’t had his best stuff recently, and that’s led to him being just 7-7 with a 4.90 ERA (47th) and 1.33 WHIP (41st) on the year. Most recently, Manaea was torched for six earned runs on 10 hits against the Royals on Sunday. The left-hander lasted just 4.0 innings in the losing effort. Manaea had a tough month overall, posting a 7.88 ERA and 1.58 WHIP over five starts and 24.0 total innings.

With him not in great form, I’m going to lock in Mookie Betts to record at least two total bases tonight. The star outfielder sits at .279 (34th) this year with 32 home runs (5th) and a .905 OPS (7th). As for the head-to-head stats, Mookie has gone 8-22 (.364) against Manaea with two dingers, a triple and a pair of doubles.

Bet: Mookie Betts Over 1.5 Total Bases (-135 via DraftKings)

Cody Bellinger O/U 0.5 Total Bases

Moving towards the bottom of the lineup, I’m going to take the over on Cody Bellinger’s total bases tonight at 0.5. Belli’s pretty far removed from his 2019 MVP campaign, but he’s still capable of doing damage at the dish. The lefty is hitting just .202 (145th) but has 17 bombs (58th). He’s gone 4-11 (.364) against Manaea in his career with two jacks and a double. I think it’s worth taking a shot here, considering he only needs to record a single against the Friars for us to cash our ticket.

Bet: Cody Bellinger Over 0.5 Total Bases (-155 via DraftKings)
