Top 6 MLB Player Prop Bets Odds & Picks: Tuesday, August 24 (2022)

Here are our favorite MLB player props for Tuesday, August 24, 2022.

Nick Lodolo: o/u 4.5 Hits Allowed

Reds’ starter Nick Lodolo is going up against a Phillies lineup that likes to feast off left-handed pitching.

The Phillies rank in the top 10 of many offensive categories against LHP. Philadelphia ranks 5th in wOBA (.338), 7th in ISO (.176), 7th in wRC+ (116), and 7th in batting average (.263)

Nick Lodolo allows more than 4.5 hits in 72.7% of his starts per Props.Cash.

The Pick: o4.5 Hits Allowed (-132 DraftKings)

Aaron Sanchez: o/u 5.5 Hits Allowed

Aaron Sanchez, recently acquired by the Minnesota Twins, gets his first start since August 1st. In his Twins debut, he pitched five innings, giving up two runs on four hits while striking out eight.

While that was a nice performance for Sanchez, it was a bit of an outlier performance. Sanchez has never had more than four strikeouts this season and has given up at least six hits in every start before this last one.

The Pick: o5.5 Hits Allowed (+105 DraftKings)

Dylan Cease: o/u 6.5 Strikeouts

Dylan Cease is one of the game’s best. He is 12-5 with a 2.09 ERA and 178 strikeouts. Dylan gets even better on the road. Away from Chicago, Cease is 7-2, and his ERA drops to 1.34. That is incredible. Opponents are hitting a measly .200 off Cease in 2022.

The Picks: o6.5 Strikeouts (-150 DraftKings)

Justin Verlander: To Record a Win

Justin Verlander is a leading candidate to win the A.L. Cy Young Award. He is 15-3 (tied for 1st in wins) with 1.98 ERA (1st) and 138 strikeouts (20th)

Verlander takes on the Twins tonight, who has been average at best over the last month or so. In the previous 30 days, the Twins rank 18th in batting average, 16th in ISO, 21st in wOBA, and 16th in wRC+.

Minnesota’s starter Aaron Sanchez is making his first start in over 20 days and might be a little rusty. I am looking for the Astros to jump to an early lead and lead Justin Verlander to his 16th victory.

The Pick: Yes (+105 DraftKings)

Nolan Arenado: o/u 1.5 Total Bases

Nolan Arendao is 2 for 6 with one double against Adrian Sampson in his career. Also, Arenado hits slightly better on the road. On the road, his batting average is .307 compared to .291 at home, and 13 of his 25 HRs have also come on the road.

The Pick: o1.5 Total Bases (+105 DraftKings)

Yordan Alvarez: To Hit a HR

As you can see, I have been fading Aaron Sanchez in many of my props. I think Houston jumps on Sanchez early and often.

Do you know how we will be devouring tacos tonight for Taco Tuesday? Well, Yordan Alvarez devours right-handed pitching.

Alvarez vs. Righties (MLB Ranks)

  • HR: 22 (T-6)
  • AVG: .308 (10th)
  • wOBA: .437 (2nd)
  • wRC+: 193 (2nd)
  • ISO: .338 (2nd)
  • Hard HIT %: 46% (1st)

The Pick: Yes (+245 DraftKings)
