MLB Playoffs Player Prop Bets Picks & Predictions: Wednesday (10/19)

Who was bragging to their friends last night?

We hit a +845 parlay in the Phillies vs. Padres NLCS Game 1. It featured Bryce Harper and Kyle Schwarber getting 2+ total bases and Zack Wheeler earning five strikeouts.

Harper and Schwarber went deep, as predicted, and Wheeler quickly went over five strikeouts after a tremendous outing.

Let’s carry that momentum into today’s games. Here are two same-game parlays for the NLCS and ALCS on Wednesday, October 19.

MLB Playoffs Player Prop Bets Picks & Predictions: Wednesday

Philadelphia Phillies vs. San Diego Padres

  • Blake Snell Over 6.5 Ks (-104)
  • Aaron Nola Over 5.5 Ks (-102)

Don’t expect much offense in today’s early game.

Blake Snell has had a 3.53 xFIP over the last 30 days. He’s struck out 33.3% of batters while walking 13%. His command can be off sometimes. If he starts to allow runners on base, he likely won’t be able to go deep enough to earn seven strikeouts.

But the Phillies’ projected lineup has struck out 25.9% of the time against lefties over the last 30 days. Only Bryce Harper has an above-average ISO against lefties over the last month.

On the other hand, Aaron Nola has had a 2.39 xFIP over the last 30 days. He’s struck out over 30% of batters while only walking 4.9%. Nola is going to be more consistent than Snell. He’s allowing over 26% of line drives when balls are batted into play. But the Padres need to put the ball in play first.

San Diego, like Philadelphia, has struck out 25.5% of the time against righties over the last 30 days using its projected lineup.

Snell and Nola should both end up holding it down. If each pitcher throws a quality start, they’ll earn the over on their strikeouts and keep the total under.

New York Yankees vs. Houston Astros

  • Yordan Alvarez 2+ Total Bases (+115)
  • Kyle Tucker 2+ Total Bases (+125)
  • Aaron Judge 2+ Total Bases (+135)

The Houston Astros will send Justin Verlander for the first game of the ALCS. Verlander has had a 3.10 xFIP over the last 30 days. He’s also struck out 28.4% of batters while walking 3.4%.

Verlander has allowed 26.2% of line drives and is earning only 31% of ground balls. To righties, he’s giving up a .426 wOBA and ISO of .208. He’s been terrific against lefties. There are multiple righties in the Yankees order who have power. The prominent right-handed bats would be Aaron Judge and Giancarlo Stanton. Judge has more potential, hitting 29.6% of line drives against righties over the last 30 days.

On the other hand, Jameson Taillon will get the call for the Yankees. He’s holding a respectable 4.11 xFIP over the last 30 days and has struck out 23.5% of batters faced.

Still, he’s given up a .403 wOBA in his last 28 plate appearances against lefties.

The two lefties in the Astros’ lineup are usually the most consistent hitters on the Astros. Yordan Alvarez has a .321 wOBA against righties over his last 52 plate appearances, with 20% of line drives hit. Meanwhile, Kyle Tucker has smacked 25% of line drives against righties and has the potential to do damage to Taillon as well.
