MLB Playoffs Same Game Parlay Odds, Picks & Predictions: Thursday (Yankees/Astros)

The NLCS will have a day off tonight. However, we’ve still got Game 2 of the ALCS tonight.

The New York Yankees will look to tie the series up at one after taking a 4-2 loss last night to the Houston Astros. Tonight’s matchup features two outstanding pitchers.

How much offense will we see tonight? Here are a couple of same-game parlays to consider for tonight’s ALCS Game 2.

MLB Playoffs Same Game Parlay Odds, Picks & Predictions

New York Yankees vs. Houston Astros (“Under” Angle)

  • Leg 1: Luis Severino Over 4.5 Ks (-118)
  • Leg 2: Framber Valdez Over 5.5 Ks (+122)
  • Leg 3: Under 7 (-110)

I’m giving out two parlays for tonight’s game.

I’ll provide one parlay if you want to use an “Under” angle and another parlay if you’re rolling with the “Over” angle. Here’s the Under angle.

Framber Valdes is one of the most consistent pitchers in baseball. He’s holding a 3.06 xFIP over the last 30 days. The left-hander has struck out 24.2% of batters and has induced 65.4% of ground balls when balls are hit into play. Valdez has limited line drives to 17.3%.

He’ll take on a Yankees lineup that hasn’t seen many lefties over the last 30 days. The lineup has seen an average of 11 plate appearances against lefties over the previous month, hitting a .174 ISO and wOBA of .300 against them. The Yankees have also struck out 23.4% of the time against lefties in the short sample size.

On the other hand, Luis Severino will take the mound for the Yankees. He’s holding an xFIP of 2.93 over the last 30 days. He’s struck out 28.4% of batters while only walking 6.2%.

The righty has also earned close to 53% of ground balls in the last 30 days and has limited line drives to under 14.7%. Meanwhile, the Astros have struck out 21.6% of the time against righties over the last month with just 5.9% of walks.

These pitchers have xFIPs around 3 with high ground ball rates and solid strikeout numbers. With the Astros hitting a wOBA of .282 over the last 30 days, the Under is in play.

New York Yankees vs. Houston Astros (“Over” Angle)

  • Leg 1: Gleybar Torres 1+ Hit (-220)
  • Leg 2: Harrison Bader 1+ Hit (-150)
  • Leg 3: Aaron Judge 2+ Total Bases (+130)

If you’re looking to back a lot of runs in tonight’s game, this is the same-game parlay you’re looking for.

Although the Yankees haven’t faced many lefties over the last 30 days, they’ve still got more potential than the Astros offensively.

Valdez has allowed a BABIP of .369 over the last 30 days. He’s given up 40.4% of hard contact in that same time frame and allowed a wOBA of .353 to his previous 82 righties.

While Valdez has earned a high rate of strikeouts against righties, he’s only earning 19.5% of strikeouts against those last 82 righties. He’s given up more line drives to righties and a higher exit velocity.

On the other hand, Gleybar Torres should end up leading things off for the Yankees. He’s hitting a .800 ISO over his last six plate appearances against lefties. Next would be Aaron Judge, who has a .600 ISO and wOBA of .582 over his last 12 plate appearances against lefties.

Finally, Harrison Bader has been red hot for New York and is hitting a .667 ISO and wOBA of .675 over his last eight plate appearances against lefties.

I’m optimistic that New York will win tonight’s game. Back their best hitters in this same-game parlay.
