MLB Playoffs Same Game Parlay Picks & Predictions for Wednesday: Padres vs. Dodgers (10/12)

Every Game 1 of the Divisional Series was a blast.

The Phillies escaped the Braves on the road while the Astros used a Yordan Alvarez three-run walk-off homer to pull out a win at home. In the later games, the Yankees and Dodgers took care of business on their home field.

Today’s slate will only include two games. The two games will be in the NLDS.

Both pitching matchups are superb. But we can use that to our advantage with a same-game parlay that I’ve constructed for Padres vs. Dodgers.

MLB Playoffs Same Game Parlay Picks & Predictions for Wednesday: Padres vs. Dodgers

San Diego Padres vs. Los Angeles Dodgers

  • Leg 1: Freddie Freeman 2+ Total Bases (+100)
  • Leg 2: Max Muncy 1+ Hit (-150)
  • Leg 3: Cody Bellinger 1+ Hit (-130)

In a game between Yu Darvish and Clayton Kershaw, it’s hard to find many spots to attack.

The Padres have hit a .240 ISO and wOBA of .352 against lefties over the last 30 days. But every player in the San Diego lineup with positive offensive numbers has a high strikeout rate against lefties.

For example, Manny Machado is hitting a .370 ISO and wOBA of .461 against lefties over his last 28 plate appearances. But he’s struck out 28.6% of the time. Brandon Drury has a .444 ISO and wOBA of .461 in 19 plate appearances against lefties. However, he’s struck out 31.6% of the time.

On the other hand, Juan Soto has an ISO of .000 and wOBA of .231 against his last 30 lefties. Meanwhile, he’s struck out just 13.3% of the time.

So it’s hard to back this Padres offense with so much inconsistency, especially when going up against Kershaw.

Therefore, I’ll attack Darvish with Dodgers’ lefties. Yu Darvish has earned under 30% of grounders and is giving up 53.8% of fly balls over the last month. Lefties have a .164 ISO against Darvish in those 30 days.

Freddie Freeman is hitting a .428 wOBA with a BABIP of .378 against righties in the last 30 days. He’s walked a lot, but if he gets a pitch to hit, he’ll have a chance for an extra-base hit. Another lefty, Max Muncy, has a .182 ISO with 26.2% of line drives hit in his last 67 plate appearances against righties.

Finally, Cody Bellinger, another lefty, is hitting a .196 ISO with 28.2% of line drives over the last 30 days against righties.

I’ll take my chance with the lefties on the Dodgers.
