- Leg 1: Yordan Alvarez 2+ Total Bases (+115)
- Leg 2: Kyle Tucker 2+ Total Bases (+125)
- Leg 3: Aaron Judge 2+ Total Bases (+135)
The Houston Astros will send Justin Verlander for the first game of the ALCS. Verlander has had a 3.10 xFIP over the last 30 days. He’s also struck out 28.4% of batters while walking 3.4%.
Verlander has allowed 26.2% of line drives and is earning only 31% of ground balls. To righties, he’s giving up a .426 wOBA and ISO of .208. He’s been terrific against lefties. There are multiple righties in the Yankees order who have power. The prominent right-handed bats would be Aaron Judge and Giancarlo Stanton. Judge has more potential, hitting 29.6% of line drives against righties over the last 30 days.
On the other hand, Jameson Taillon will get the call for the Yankees. He’s holding a respectable 4.11 xFIP over the last 30 days and has struck out 23.5% of batters faced.
Still, he’s given up a .403 wOBA in his last 28 plate appearances against lefties.
The two lefties in the Astros’ lineup are usually the most consistent hitters on the Astros. Yordan Alvarez has a .321 wOBA against righties over his last 52 plate appearances, with 20% of line drives hit. Meanwhile, Kyle Tucker has smacked 25% of line drives against righties and has the potential to do damage to Taillon as well.
