MLB Same Game Parlay Odds & Picks for Friday, July 29 (2022)

Another weekend of baseball is upon us. Some of the league’s best starters are on the mound tonight, and they have some favorable matchups for us to take advantage of. We’ll also feature one of the more exciting series of the weekend between two divisional foes.

Seattle Mariners vs. Houston Astros

  • Leg 1: Astros ML (-184)
  • Leg 2: Justin Verlander over 7.5 (-128)
  • Leg 3: Jose Altuve to record 2+ hits (+220)
  • Leg 4: Kyle Tucker to record a hit (-185)

Justin Verlander continues to dominate every time he’s on the mound, with eight of nine outings being quality starts and the Astros winning all eight of those games.

Two of those being against the Mariners, and in his five starts this season against Seattle, he’s 4-1, allowing just ten earned in 35.2 innings with a —- strikeout rate.

Conversely, Robbie Ray has turned around his season after struggling early on. In his first 12 starts, he was 5-6  with a 4.97 ERA; in seven recent starts, he has a 2.65 ERA, and the Mariners are 7-2  in those starts. Of those nine outings, seven were quality starts; the only two were against Houston. In his last against the Astros, he went a season-low 3.2 innings, one strikeout, and tied a season-high allowing six earned and ten hits.

Toronto Blue Jays vs. Detroit Tigers

  • Leg 1: Blue Jays -3.5 (+132)
  • Leg 2: Over 8 (-115)
  • Leg 3: Over 0.5 runs in the first inning (-104)

The Blue Jays season has had its ups and downs, including a coaching change. After losing nine of ten at the beginning of the month, they’ve recently won ten of their last 12.

Alek Manoah will be in the Cy Young conversation as the sophomore comes in with third-best WAR amongst starters (3.6), is third in WHIP (0.970), and fourth in ERA. He’s been able to use all his pitches effectively this year, as he has a negative run value for each. His slider is especially significant as it has a 48% break above average, with hitters batting .180.

The Tigers’ struggles on offense are well known for being second to last in wOBA (.276), OPS (.622), and last in slugging (.335). This will be one of Manoah’s best outings as Blue Jays continue to win.

New York Yankees vs. Kansas City Royals

  • Leg 1: Yankees -1.5 (-182)
  • Leg 2: Over 8 (-118)
  • Leg 3: Aaron Judge to record 2+ total bases (-115)
  • Leg 4: Gerrit Cole under 8.5 strikeouts (-148)

The Yankees come into Friday with a win in the first game of the series thanks to Aaron Judge having us all rise with this third walk-off home run of the season, becoming the only Yankee besides Mickey Mantle to accomplish that.

New York will have their ace Gerritt Cole on the mound and comes pitching well with quality starts in 10 of his last 12 outings. He’s already had a start against the Royals going six shutouts innings with six strikeouts, and this roster is batting just .185 in 57 at-bats lifetime.

Kris Bubic is in the middle of his best stretch of the year with a 3.03 ERA in July. Unfortunately for him, the offense hasn’t given him much support in these starts, and the 4.57 ERA from the bullpen has let a couple of games go, and as a result, the team is 1-4 in his starts. Unlike Cole, Bubic does not have a good history against the Yankees — in his start against them this season, he allowed three earned in five innings in a loss, and the roster is batting .282 with a .597 xSLG lifetime.

Expect the Yankees to play much better offensively tonight and return to winning consecutive games.
