MLB Same Game Parlay Odds & Picks for Wednesday, August 17 (2022)

We’re back with three more Same-Game Parlays for tonight’s MLB slate for Wednesday, August 17. The Phillies ended up not playing J.T. Realmuto last night, but the other two bets in that parlay yesterday were cashed. Maybe some of you swapped Realmuto out for Castellanos and won big.

I’m hoping!

I’ve got three ideas for today’s slate below.

Atlanta Braves vs. New York Mets

  • Leg 1: Pete Alonso 2+ Total Bases (+100)
  • Leg 2: Dan Vogelbach 1+ Hits (-150)
  • Leg 3: Tyler Naquin 1+ Hits (-170)

The Mets have lost their first two games to the Braves, 18-1, during their four-game road series. The public is against the Mets, and now New York is just 3.5 games ahead in first.

The bats should come alive tonight. Jake Odorizzi will take the hill for the Braves. He has had a 6.11 xFIP in the last 30 days and rarely earns strikeouts.

The right-hander has also given up 22.4% of line drives while only inducing 22.4% of ground balls when balls are batted into play.

Pete Alonso is scorching hot against righties, hitting a .230 ISO with a wOBA of .348 against them in the last 30 days. Dan Vogelbach has a .250 ISO and wOBA of .414 against righties in his last 62 plate appearances. Lastly, Tyler Naquin has a .381 ISO with a wOBA of .427 against righties in his last 43 plate appearances.

Back these Mets bats to get back on track tonight.

Milwaukee Brewers vs. Los Angeles Dodgers

  • Leg 1: Mookie Betts 2+ Total Bases (-105)
  • Leg 2: Trea Turner 2+ Total Bases (-135)
  • Leg 3: Hanser Alberto 1+ Hits (-185)

It’ll be Eric Lauer on the mound for the Brewers tonight. The left-hander hasn’t pitched well recently, holding a 5.76 xFIP in the last 30 days. He’s struck out just 16.7% of batters faced in that time frame and has walked over 11% of batters faced.

Lauer has also induced less than 35% of ground balls in the last 30 days while giving up 46.4% of hard contact. The Dodgers should be hitting hard line drives against Lauer.

Mookie Betts has a .462 ISO with a wOBA of .511 against lefties in the last 30 days, while Trea Turner has a .652 ISO and wOBA of .584 against lefties in that same time frame. Those two bats are smacking lefties around from the right side.

Hanser Alberto, on the other hand, is a right-handed bat that only plays against lefties. He has a .400 wOBA in his last 20 plate appearances against lefties and only has struck out 10% of the time.

I’m backing those three Dodgers in tonight’s parlay.

Arizona Diamondbacks vs. San Francisco Giants

  • Leg 1: Carlos Rodon Over 7.5 Ks  (-118)
  • Leg 2: Thairo Estrada 2+ Total Bases (+115)
  • Leg 3: Joey Bart 1+ Hits (-120)

Carlos Rodon will take the hill for the Giants tonight. He’s struck out 32.2% of batters faced in the last 30 days. That’s essentially a strikeout per every three batters faced for Rodon.

In the Diamondbacks’ lineup, there are six batters striking out at least 20% or more against lefties. Rodon has plenty of opportunities to reach eight strikeouts in this game.

On the other hand, Zach Davies will get the call for the Diamondbacks. He’s got a 5.62 xFIP in the last 30 days with the same amount of walks as strikeouts. Daves has walked and struck out 11.8% of batters faced in the last month of baseball.

Against his last 34 righties, Davies has allowed a .380 wOBA and ISO of .355. Thairo Estrada and Joey Bart are both righties that will more than likely be in the lineup tonight for the Giants.

Estrada has struck out just 8.5% of the time against righties in the last 30 days and is hitting 28.6% of line drives when he puts the ball in play. Meanwhile, Bart is hitting a .322 wOBA with a .526 BABIP, and 21.1% of line drives when balls are batted into play.

I’ll take my chances with the Giants’ righties and Davies.
