MLB Same Game Parlay Odds & Picks: Friday (8/30)

We have an overloaded schedule of MLB action on Friday, with 16 total games on the docket. That means there are plenty of chances to put together some Same-Game Parlays (SGPs). Let's get this holiday weekend started on the right foot.

Here are three of my favorite MLB Same-Game Parlays for Friday, August 30. Adjust as you see fit and best of luck.

Friday's Best MLB Same Game Parlay Bets

(Odds via DraftKings Sportsbook)

San Diego Padres at Tampa Bay Rays

This SGP has a bit of reverse correlation, but I think it makes sense given the way the starting pitchers and offenses involved in this matchup have fared of late.

Taj Bradley is on the mound for the Tampa Bay Rays. Bradley has struggled mightily of late. He has allowed 24 runs in his last five outings. His last five opponents have scored 4, 5, 6, 3 and 6 runs in the first five innings of Bradley's starts.

Now he faces a San Diego Padres team that has the fourth-highest wRC+ versus right-handed pitchers in August. Give me the Padres to get at least two runs across the plate in the first five innings on Friday.

Next, I am taking Martin Perez to allow fewer than 2.5 earned runs. Perez has gone under this number in five of his last six starts. But that is not the only reason I like it. Yes, he has a favorable matchup against the Rays. Tampa ranks in the bottom five in nearly every relevant offensive category against left-handers this month. But San Diego also is quick to give Perez the hook when he gets in trouble.

Perez has made five starts as a Padre. He has only thrown more than 80 pitches in two of them and is facing just 19.8 batters per start. Mike Shildt is not shy about using his bullpen and with good reason. San Diego relievers have a 2.60 xFIP in August. No other team has an xFIP lower than 3.51.

Though I believe Perez will be able to limit the damage, I am taking Dylan Carlson to record a hit as the final leg of this parlay. Carlson is a much better hitter lifetime as a right-handed hitter (.288) than he is as a lefty (.219). That includes a 2-for-4 mark against Perez.

If you do not like Carlson, you can take both Luis Arraez and Yandy Diaz to record a hit. But as much as I like both players, I would rather bet on one outcome than two. Therefore, I am going with Carlson.

Parlay Odds: +465

Baltimore Orioles at Colorado Rockies

This SGP is unofficially known as the "fade Austin Gomber" special. Gomber has allowed a .491 opposing slugging percentage at home this year. Not only does Gomber pitch at home in Coors Field on Friday, but he will be facing a very difficult Baltimore Orioles offense.

Baltimore has the third-highest wRC+ against left-handed pitching this season at 116. They have been slightly lower this month, but still above average at 108.

As to the specific hitters involved, I will start with Austin Slater. He should lead off for the Orioles against Gomber. Slater is a much more dangerous hitter when facing lefties in his career. His slugging is 99 points higher against southpaws than right-handers. Slater is also not opposed to some Austin-on-Austin violence. He is 9-for-19 with five extra-base hits in his career versus Gomber.

I am also taking Adley Rutschman to record multiple total bases. Rutschman has crushed lefties all year long. He is hitting .342 with a .537 slugging percentage against left-handers this season.

Next on the list is Anthony Santander. Santander is third in the Major Leagues in home runs entering this game. He should have plenty of RBI opportunities hitting behind Slater, Rutschman and Gunnar Henderson. I am betting on Santander to record at least one RBI as well as one hit.

My final leg is for Ramon Urias to record at least one hit in this game. He is 8-for-17 in the last six games in which Baltimore has faced a left-handed starting pitcher. Urias hits toward the bottom of the lineup but should be good for at least one hit in this game.

If you have access to Fanatics Sportsbook, they will likely beat this price if and when they post Austin Slater’s props. If they do, you may be able to reduce one of these legs or reduce the threshold and still maintain the +400 price.

Parlay Odds: +415

Los Angeles Dodgers at Arizona Diamondbacks

My final SGP for Friday's MLB slate takes us to the desert, where the Arizona Diamondbacks host the division-leading Los Angeles Dodgers. Zac Gallen will be tasked with trying to prevent the Dodgers from pulling further ahead in the National League West. Clayton Kershaw will oppose him for Los Angeles.

The total for this game is as high as nine runs on some sportsbooks. I do not think it is asking too much to expect these offenses to combine for at least six runs on Friday night.

Gallen has struggled with his command a bit of late. But I still think he can figure out a way to strike out at least four hitters while surrendering fewer than 2.5 walks. The Dodgers have a reputation as a high-walk, low-strikeout team. However, they have only walked in 7.1% of plate appearances this month versus right-handed pitchers while striking out at a 22.6% rate.

Gallen has also had decent success in these departments against Dodger bats throughout his career. The projected lineup for Los Angeles has a combined walk rate of 7.9% and a strikeout rate of 25.4% in 126 total plate appearances.

My last leg is for Lourdes Gurriel to record at least two total bases. Gurriel is swinging a hot bat entering this matchup. The Diamondbacks left fielder has recorded at least two total bases in five of his last six games and eight of his last 11. He also has very favorable numbers against left-handed pitching this season.

Gurriel is slugging .517 versus lefties in 2024. His aggressive style, 5.1% walk rate, is ideal for a total base prop. Kershaw has only made six starts this season. But he has allowed a .306 batting average to right-handed hitters, compared to a .233 mark for lefties.
