MLB Same Game Parlay Odds & Picks: Friday (9/13)
The sprint toward the finish line of the 2024 Major League Baseball is on. Some teams are fighting for their playoff lives, while others are making travel plans and setting tee times.
This can be a tricky time of year, so you may want to tread lightly in certain instances. For example, four of Friday's games have a starting pitcher that has yet to be announced. I am avoiding those games completely concerning my Same Game Parlay (SGP) selections.
There are still some matchups I like, so here are three SGPs I put together for Friday night's games.

Friday's Best MLB Same Game Parlay Bets
(Odds courtesy of DraftKings Sportsbook)
New York Mets at Philadelphia Phillies
- Leg 1: Phillies Moneyline (-170)
- Leg 2: Trea Turner 1+ Total Hits (-260)
- Leg 3: Jose Quintana Under 5.5 Strikeouts (-160)
- Leg 4: Nick Castellanos 1+ RBI (+140)
Our first SGP for Friday brings us to the City of Brotherly Love. The Philadelphia Phillies host the New York Mets to start a three-game set. Both teams have a lot to play for in this one. I like the Phillies to win this game behind Aaron Nola, who shut the Mets out in his only outing against them so far this year. He also has been excellent at home, pitching to a 2.88 ERA.
On the other side is Jose Quintana. He has pitched well in his last three starts but has not pitched well versus the Phillies this season. He has lasted a total of just nine innings over two starts, allowing five runs and striking out just five of 39 hitters. I am taking the Under on Quintana's strikeout prop in addition to the Phillies on the Moneyline.
My final two legs are bets on a pair of Phillies hitters. Trea Turner is hitting .381 this year at Citizens Bank Park versus left-handed pitching. We just need one hit from him here.
In addition, I like Nick Castellanos to record an RBI. Castellanos has 17 RBI in just 61 at-bats when facing a left-hander at home this year. He has been hitting cleanup recently following the injury to Alec Bohm. That puts him behind Kyle Schwarber, Turner, and Bryce Harper in the Phillies lineup. That trio has combined to post a .422 on-base percentage when facing left-handed pitchers at home this year.

Miami Marlins at Washington Nationals
- Leg 1: DJ Herz 6+ Strikeouts (-165)
- Leg 2: Edward Cabrera Under 5.5 Strikeouts (-115)
- Leg 3: Javier Sanoja Under 0.5 Total Hits (+110)
My next SGP is also in a game featuring teams from the National League East. This time, though, the teams involved are simply playing out the string at this point in the year.
Washington is sending DJ Herz to the mound on Friday. Herz has been excellent since debuting in June. In 16 starts, Herz has a 28.9-percent strikeout rate. He struck out 13 Marlins en route to his first Major League victory back on June 15. The lineup Herz will face on Friday is vastly different from the one he saw in that game, but these Marlins, as currently constructed, are still prone to the punchout.
Over the last 30 days, Miami hitters have struck out in 25.3 percent of their plate appearances against left-handed pitchers. I think six strikeouts is quite doable for Herz in this matchup.
On the flip side, Washington has only struck out in 19.7 percent of their plate appearances against right-handers. Edward Cabrera can rack up strikeouts when he is on. However, that has not been the case of late. Cabrera has struck out four or fewer hitters in four of his last six starts. I am taking the Under on his strikeout prop.
I am also betting against Javier Sanoja getting a hit in this game. Right-handed hitters have only reached via a base hit in 19.1 percent of plate appearances against Herz this year. Sanoja is off to a 3-for-16 start to his MLB career and has been pinch-hit for in two straight games after only two plate appearances.

Chicago Cubs at Colorado Rockies
- Leg 1: Javier Assad Under 3.5 Earned Runs Allowed (-120)
- Leg 2: Nico Hoerner 2+ Total Bases (-145)
- Leg 3: Pete Crow-Armstrong 2+ Total Bases (+100)
My final SGP for Friday is a Coors Field special, although I am including a rare pro-pitcher prop in Colorado. I am taking the Under on Javier Assad's earned runs allowed number.
Assad has made 26 starts for the Chicago Cubs this season. He has allowed three or fewer earned runs in 23 of them and even that is selling him a bit short. Assad has allowed two or fewer earned runs 19 times. I know that Coors Field is a hitterâs haven, but the Colorado Rockies are also not very good offensively, regardless of the ballpark.
Since August 1, the Rockies have had a 90 wRC+ at home when facing right-handed pitchers. That is the sixth-lowest mark in the Major Leagues. The Cubs are fighting for their playoff lives and had a day off yesterday. If Assad gets into trouble, he may get a quick hook. Either way, I expect him to allow fewer than 3.5 earned runs on Friday.
I am also backing two Cubs to record at least two total bases against Austin Gomber and the rest of the Rockiesâ pitching staff. Nico Hoerner and Pete Crow-Armstrong are both adept at putting the ball in play, especially against left-handed pitchers in recent months.
Since the All-Star break, Hoerner is hitting .410 and slugging .564 versus lefties. In that span, he has not walked a single time against a lefty and has struck out just 10.3 percent of the time. Crow-Armstrong is hitting .333 against left-handers since the break. He has walked just once and carries a modest 18.6-percent strikeout rate in the same split.
Given Gomber's nature to pitch to contact and the expansive outfield area in Coors Field, I like both of these Cubs hitters to record at least two total bases in this game.
