MLB Same Game Parlay Odds, Picks & Predictions: Friday (4/5)

The weekend is upon us and there appear to be some exploitable pitching matchups on the horizon. That is great news for those of us looking to put together some Same Game Parlays (SGPs) for Friday's action.

Here are a few of my favorite SGPs for Friday's slate. FanDuel has a promo where all customers get a 30 percent boost on SGP, so keep that in mind when making your wagers.

Tampa Bay Rays at Colorado Rockies

The Tampa Bay Rays travel west to face the Colorado Rockies on Friday. This is an ideal matchup on a couple of fronts. Coors Field is a hitters' haven, and Friday should be no different as early indications are that the wind will be blowing. This likelihood is only furthered by Austin Gomber being on the mound for Colorado.

Gomber posted a 7.05 home ERA in 2023 and there is no reason to believe he will have much success against the Rays, who had a 120 wRC+ against left-handed pitchers last year.

The biggest beneficiary of this matchup in my opinion is Harold Ramirez. He batted .386 versus lefties since in 2023. More importantly for this SGP, he only has a three% walk rate in that split. He should bat second, which he has in Tampa's previous two games in which they have faced a lefty. These factors are why I like him to record two or more total bases, as well as score a run.

Yandy Diaz had a .432 on-base percentage versus left-handers this past year. So while asking him to score twice may seem like a big ask, I think we're getting a pretty good price considering the matchup and the likelihood of five or more plate appearances.

Amed Rosario should be hitting fifth in Friday's lineup. The foursome of Diaz, Ramirez, Randy Arozarena and Isaac Paredes should hold the first four spots. That group collectively had an on-base percentage of just under .400 versus lefties in 2023. Rosario has historically hit very well against southpaws, hitting .298 in his career with a rather low 5.7-percent walk rate. I like Rosario to drive in a run on Friday.

Philadelphia Phillies at Washington Nationals

The Philadelphia Phillies travel south to face divisional foe Washington on Friday. With so much history between these games, there are some historical matchups I am looking to take advantage of with this SGP.

Patrick Corbin has been one of the worst pitchers in baseball over the past couple of seasons. He has faced Philadelphia five times since 2022 and has only gone more than five innings in one of those games. I expect more of the same on Friday.

Two hitters he has struggled with historically are Kyle Schwarber and J.T. Realmuto. Schwarber has reached base in nine of 19 career plate appearances, so I like the Phillies' leadoff man to score a run. Realmuto is 11-for-32 lifetime against Corbin, so he should be good for at least one hit.

On the other side, I like Aaron Nola to continue his success against Eddie Rosario. Rosario is just 2-for-23 lifetime with 11 strikeouts against the Phillies' right-hander in his career. He has also gotten off to a slow start so far, hitting just 3-for-19 with seven strikeouts.

Arizona Diamondbacks at Atlanta Braves

The Atlanta Braves will have their home opener on Friday when they host the Arizona Diamondbacks. Their ace, Spencer Strider, will be on the mound. Arizona will counter with Tommy Henry.

This is a pretty glaring pitching mismatch, especially given Atlanta's prowess in handling left-handed pitching. They led the league with a 131 wRC+ this past season against lefties. With Strider on the bump, I like the Braves on the Run Line here as the first leg of my SGP.

For the remaining legs, there are a few Braves' hitters I am targeting. Ozzie Albies slugged .617 versus left-handers in 2023. He also walked just 3% of the time, which is a great sign for his total base prop.

Austin Riley hit .289 versus lefties this past year. He also destroyed changeups and curveballs, which Henry relies on against right-handed hitters. Riley was subpar when facing fastballs last year. However, Henry's heater is not one to fear. Opponents hit .292 against Henry's fastball this past season.

Finally, I like Matt Olson to drive in a run on Friday. With Ronald Acuna Jr, Albies, and Riley ahead of him, Olson should have plenty of RBI opportunities. He led all Braves hitters with 30 RBI against left-handed pitching a season ago.
