Texas Rangers at Baltimore Orioles

Leg 1: Rangers ML (+105)
Leg 2: Rangers Over 4.5 Runs (+115)

This is a fun weekend series of two of the biggest surprises of the MLB thus far. The Rangers have built a formidable offense with the second-highest wRC+ in baseball, while the Orioles have been led by some stellar pitching and a nasty bullpen. Grayson Rodriguez, however, has been a bit of a disappointment with an ERA over six and estimators up over five. The issue for the young righty has been homers, and while the Orioles have made it much harder to hit home runs to LF in their park, RF is still attainable for left-handed power hitters, and this Rangers lineup has a few of them. They should be able to score and, as a result, should be able to hold on to the victory.

Leg 3: Nate Lowe 2+ TBs (+120)

One of those left-handed power hitters alluded to above is Nate Lowe. Lowe has a 144 wRC+ against right-handed pitchers in 2023 with an ISO of .200. This, combined with Rodriguez’s homer issues, makes him a great bet to help lead the Rangers to victory.

Combined Odds: +425

Chicago White Sox at Detroit Tigers

Leg 1: White Sox -1.5 (+115)
Leg 2: Over 5.5 Runs (+150)

While they aren’t exactly world-beaters, the White Sox do have a 105 wRC+ against left-handed pitching in 2023, and Joey Wentz takes the ball for the Tigers. Wentz has gotten hit extremely hard in 2023 with an HR/9 over two and an ERA over seven. The estimators don’t like him either. He has personally allowed five or more runs in four of his nine starts thus far. The White Sox’ offense has not been as exciting as it was expected to be, but there is talent in this lineup, and they can hit lefties well enough. Lance Lynn is coming off two solid starts, and the walks are concerning, but the full-season numbers paint a picture of much better results than he has shown. Detroit still has a bottom-five offense in all of baseball by wRC+.

Leg 3: Jake Burger 2+ TBs (+130)

Burger has been insane against left-handed pitching in 2023 with a 194 wRC+ and an ISO over .400. The sample is small, obviously, but he has similarly excellent numbers against southpaws in his career. This TB prop seems to be priced extremely well, making this a great SGP addition.

Combined Odds: +475

Washington Nationals at Kansas City Royals

Leg 1: Nationals ML (+105)
Leg 2: Over 5.5 Runs (+165)

If you told me at the beginning of the season I would be betting on the Nationals in a game started by Patrick Corbin, I would have told you that you were crazy, but here we are. Corbin has been decent in 2023 with an ERA in the fours and has allowed three or fewer runs in his last seven starts. The Royals offense has a 103 wRC+ against lefties, which is obviously above average but nothing exceptional. Jordan Lyles takes the ball for the Royals, and he has been getting crushed all season long. Washington very quietly has a top-ten offense in the last two weeks with a team wRC+ of 112 which matches the Dodgers in the same span. They should be able to keep the struggles going for Lyles.

Leg 3: Jeimer Candelario 2+ TBs (+130)

Candy is having a nice bounce-back season with a wRC+ back over 100. He has been much better as a left-handed hitter than a right-handed one, with a wRC+ at 114 versus righties. He hits for a ton more power left-handed and has been a big part of their recent successes, with his wRC+ at 129 in May. He is a great bet for two total bases.

Combined Odds: +500
