MLB Same Game Parlay Odds, Picks & Predictions: Monday (10/9)

Throughout the season, I was banking on bad pitchers.

In the postseason, that strategy goes out the window. Each team has their star pitchers on the mound in the playoffs.

With some adjustments, I still feel confident with tonight’s same-game parlays for the two NLDS games on the slate.

Philadelphia Phillies vs. Atlanta Braves

I’m fading Zack Wheeler tonight. I don’t think Zack Wheeler will get blown up, but if Max Fried is 100% healthy, he should have a better outing than Wheeler. Wheeler has only struck out 19.7% of lefties in the last month. He’s also allowed a .164 ISO and wOBA of .358 to his previous 66 lefties. Wheeler has allowed a .315 ISO to lefties this season and earned only 39.3% of grounders while giving up 25.7% of line drives. Therefore, Atlanta’s lefties have an edge.

Ozzie Albies has smacked a .254 ISO and wOBA of .438 against his last 78 righties. Albies has struck out only 14.1% of the time against righties in the previous 30 days. Meanwhile, Matt Olson, another lefty, has hit a .392 ISO and wOBA of .558 against his last 64 righties. Olson has struck out just 15.6% of the time.

As a projected lineup, the Braves have struck out only 18.1% of the time against righties. Only Austin Riley has struck out more than 19.7% of the time against righties. With Wheeler averaging just 23.5% of strikeouts over the last month, his Under was added to the parlay.

Parlay Odds: +599

Arizona Diamondbacks vs. Los Angeles Dodgers

  • Leg 1: Zac Gallen Under 4.5 Ks (-113)
  • Leg 2: Bobby Miller Over 5.5 Ks (+128)
  • Leg 3: Freddie Freeman Over 1.5 Total Bases (-120)

The Dodgers are probably in a must-win spot tonight against the Diamondbacks. They can’t go down 2-0 and expect to escape on the road against Arizona.

Arizona will pitch Zac Gallen tonight. Gallen has held teams to a .142 ISO and wOBA of .330 over the last 30 days. He’s been tremendous at inducing ground balls and limiting fly balls. However, he’s still allowed a .170 ISO to his previous 62 lefties. Furthermore, Freddie Freeman is a lefty, hitting a .266 ISO and wOBA of .406, with only 15.3% of strikeouts over the last 30 days against righties. He can hit for some power against Gallen in this spot. Meanwhile, Gallen has only struck out 24% of batters this season, including 22.6% against lefties. The Dodgers should have more lefties than righties in the lineup. As a projected lineup, they’ve struck out just 19.1% of the time. Gallen only has two legitimate targets in the Dodgers’ lineup.

On the other hand, Bobby Miller will take on a suddenly hot Diamondbacks lineup. However, over the last 30 days, the Diamondbacks haven’t been great against righties. Arizona has hit a .136 ISO and wOBA of .296 against righties as a projected lineup. Only Corbin Carroll and Ketel Marte have put up above-average numbers against righties in the last month. Miller has held lefties to a .069 ISO and wOBA of .265 and both of those guys are lefties. Expect Miller to have a dominant performance for the Dodgers tonight.

Parlay Odds: +655
