MLB Same Game Parlay Odds, Picks & Predictions: Monday (5/8)

We’re back with another week of the MLB.

It’s a smaller slate of games tonight. But there are still plenty of exciting matchups with lots of value on the board.

So let’s get right to it. Here are a couple of same-game parlays to think about for tonight’s slate of games.

Tampa Bay Rays vs. Baltimore Orioles

The Tampa Bay Rays continue to put together one of the best seasons we’ve ever seen in baseball. I don’t want to get carried away, and it’s still a long season. But this offense is performing at a high level right now.

They’ll face Kyle Gibson of the Orioles. The righty has a 5.18 xFIP over the last 30 days with only 15.4% of strikeouts. He’s also walked over 8% of batters and allows close to 40% of hard contact when the ball is batted into play.

Lefties are hitting a .455 wOBA and ISO of .255 in their last 62 plate appearances against Gibson. The Rays should have four lefties in the lineup, including Wander Franco and Brandon Lowe.

Franco has hit a .236 ISO and wOBA of .344 against his last 95 righties, while Lowe has smacked a .329 ISO and wOBA of .342 against his last 88 righties. Both should be able to earn an extra-base hit or a couple of base hits tonight.

And while Gibson is better against righties, Yandy Diaz has been tough to get out. Diaz is hitting a .278 ISO and a wOBA of .460 against his last 95 righties. He’s also struck out just 12.6% of the time. I like Diaz to do some damage tonight at the top of the order.

Parlay Odds: +655

Oakland Athletics vs. New York Yankees

Let’s start with Nestor Cortes. Cortes has struck out 27.4% of batters over the last 30 days. However, he’s holding an xFIP of 5.80 in that time frame and has induced just 17.8% of ground balls.

Righties are hitting a wOBA of .342 with an ISO of .256 against Cortes in their last 101 plate appearances.

Brent Rooker is red hot against lefties for the Athletics. He’s hit a .600 ISO and wOBA of .589 in his last 24 plate appearances against lefties.

However, the Athletics still have five batters striking out at least 33.3% of the time against lefties in the last 30 days. That’s why I’m confident Cortes will earn high strikeouts tonight.

On the other hand, former Yankees pitcher J.P. Sears will take the hill for Oakland. He’s got a 5.12 xFIP and has allowed a .232 ISO to his last 90 righties. Gleybar Torres has hit a .300 ISO and woBA of .393 against his last 27 lefties and should be able to do some damage against Sears tonight.

Parlay Odds: +905
