Chicago Cubs at Seattle Mariners

The Cubs being at 7-6 is an incredible feat with their schedule this year, facing the Rangers, Dodgers, and Padres. You see that they’ve faced some good offenses with the 4.51 team ERA and .312 BABIP allowed. The big acquisition for Chicago was the Japanese import Shota Imanaga, which he has delivered so far this season. He has yet to allow a run or a walk, with a 34.3% strikeout rate and chase rate in the 99th percentile.

The Mariners won the series opener, but the team is not playing its best ball, as they came into the series losing three straight. The starting pitching has been awful this year, with the third-highest ERA (5.83). Rookie Emerson Hancock had a solid first career start, but his second was forgettable, as he allowed eight earned runs against the Brewers.

The Mariners lineup is prone to strikeouts with the highest strikeout rate, so it’s an excellent recipe for Imanaga to continue his great season.

Parlay Odds: +627

Kansas City Royals at New York Mets

The Royals went on a fantastic run of winning seven straight before suffering a loss in the series opener. Are they actually good? Time will tell. Those opponents were the White Sox, who many believe will finish last in the division, and the Astros, who have gotten off to their worst start in over ten years. Alec Marsh is coming off an awful rookie year with a 5.69 ERA, but he’s been solid in his first two starts, including seven innings against the Orioles, where he allowed one earned.

The Mets have improved since that 0-5 start and have gone 6-2, including a series win against the Braves. Sean Manaea will get the ball, and he will be an essential part of this pieced-together rotation. He’s never been known as a strikeout pitcher, but his 34.1% strikeout rate is in the top 10% of the league, and he’s never been above 25%.

The Mets have a superior pitching staff, and they were able to shut down a Kansas City offense that had been hitting well lately.

Parlay Odds: +494

Texas Rangers at Houston Astros

The Rangers broke the hearts of Astros fans last year in the ALCS, which continued in the first game of this series, as they got the win in a 12-8 offensive showdown. The defending champs could be even better than last year, as they’re fourth in OPS and seventh in ERA. Heaney saw the Astros in his previous start and was shelled, allowing six earned in 3.2 innings.

The Astros haven’t been off to this bad of a start since 2011 when they finished 56-106. This team is much better than that era of the franchise, and they can climb out of this hole. Ronel Blanco saw some spot starts last year, but with the way he is pitching, it would be hard to take him out of the rotation. He had that no-hitter in his first start, and he came right by back, pitching six scoreless against the Rangers.

The hitter always benefits from facing the same pitcher in a short turnaround, and we should have another high-scoring game tonight.

Parlay Odds: +504
