New York Yankees at St. Louis Cardinals (Game 1)
The Yankees just got done running through the American League West by taking two of three in each series against the Mariners, Athletics, and Rangers. The offense came through with 22 runs in Oakland, but the pitching continues to be their strong point, with a 2.44 ERA over their last nine games, which includes the Domingo German perfect game. Luis Severino would love to put June in the past as he finished with a 6.93 ERA, but he did end strong going six scoreless against the Rangers.
It's been a disappointing season for St. Louis as they sit 14 games below .500 in an awful National League Central. This is still an impactful offense, but the pitching has been dreadful by being 25th in ERA and 29th in opponent's batting average. Jack Flaherty has struggled lately by allowing six earned in both of his previous two starts, and he's continually had control issues with a 12.3% walk rate.
Parlay Odds: +817
San Francisco Giants at New York Mets
Time is ticking for the Mets as they sit ten games under .500, and owner Steve Cohen has expressed that changes could be made. One rumor that has swirled around is that they could consider moving Justin Verlander, not even a full season into his New York tenure. He's been disappointing this year with an exit velo of 91.2 and barrel per plate appearance of 5.0, the two worse numbers since 2015 when Statcast started tracking these.
The Mets have unexpectedly been bad, and the Giants have been the reverse. They finished June 17-8 with a +39 scoring differential and are in the hunt for the NL West. In what's been a good San Francisco rotation, Anthony DeSclafani has been the black sheep and finished June going 0-3 with a 6.65 ERA.
Parlay Odds: +603
Arizona Diamondbacks at Los Angeles Angels
The Angels are the most exciting team to watch, not because they are one of the best overall, but because Shohei Ohtani has been on an absolute tear. He's coming into this game with an OPS of 1.663 and six home runs in his last seven. Tyler Anderson has a mediocre 5.73 ERA in his previous four starts, but the Halos are 3-1 thanks to 21 runs in those wins.
The Diamondbacks continue to be a great story this season, as they look like a legitimate contender in NL West. The D-Backs have a great top of the rotation, but it's a drop-off after that, which includes Ryne Nelson. June was his best month because it was his first month with multiple wins and his lowest ERA of 4.10.
