Chicago Cubs at Miami Marlins

The Cubs need a win today to avoid the sweep. They were down quickly last night by giving up five runs in the first, and although the offense did its best to catch up, they came up short in the 7-6 loss. They will have their best pitcher on the mound in Justin Steele, who's allowed two or fewer runs in all five starts this season.

The Marlins have two one-run wins in this series thanks to a walk-off, and yesterday nearly blew a five-run lead. Bryan Hoeing will make his third career Major League start, and the first two have not gone well. In his previous two starts, he's yet to pitch past the fourth inning and has allowed 11 earned runs in 6.2 innings.

Chicago was offensively able to make an effort yesterday, and this time they'll have their starter to keep the Marlins contained.

Parlay Odds: +497

Arizona Diamondbacks at Colorado Rockies

It has been all Diamondbacks in this series, winning both games by a combined score of 20-5. The D-Backs are a much-improved team from last season, specifically on offense, and in what could be a wide-open NL West, they currently hold onto 1st place. Ryne Nelson has a couple of quality starts but was hurt by the bullpen and lack of run support. His last couple of starts have been his undoing, with opposing batters hitting .333 in his previous two starts.

The Rockies are third in home batting average, as they should be, but the offense has looked bad this weekend. It doesn't help that the pitching has allowed the second-most runs at home. Austin Gomber got his first win against an underachieving Guardians lineup, but until then, he had a 12.12 ERA.

Parlay Odds: +655

Atlanta Braves at New York Mets

  • Leg 1: Braves Moneyline (-164)
  • Leg 2: UNDER 7.5  Runs (-114)
  • Leg 3: Spencer Strider UNDER 7.5 Strikeouts (-102)

The rivalry between the Mets and Braves will be one to pay attention to this season as they look like the two favorites in the NL East once again.

The Braves are a power lineup with the third-highest homer percentage of the season. However, when you swing big, you miss big, and they are 20th in strikeout percentage. They also present power pitching with Strider, who's leading the league in strikeout percentage.

He is going against a disciplined Mets lineup that will draw the walk and put the ball in play. They will have Tylor Megill on the mound, but his last two starts have not gone too well and he has back-to-back losses after allowing seven earned in nine innings.

The Mets' lineup has a lifetime .340 wOBA, so I don't expect Strider to shut them down, but Megill could also face some trouble against the Braves lineup.
