MLB Same Game Parlay Odds, Picks & Predictions: Thursday (4/20)

We saw a huge slate of games on Wednesday, as we are almost one month in on the 2023 season. Thursday has a smaller slate of games with plenty of teams traveling. Let’s take a look at some of Thursday’s best SGP bets.

Thursday’s Best MLB Same Game Parlay Bets

Boston Red Sox vs. Minnesota Twins

    • Leg 1: Race to 4 Runs: Red Sox (+115)
    • Leg 2: Rafael Devers to get 1+ RBIs (+145)
    • Leg 3: Alex Verdugo to get 2+ Total Bases (+100

The Twins and Red Sox will meet for an afternoon game at Fenway Park to decide the series winner.  The pitching matchup will feature two right-handed pitchers in Kenta Maeda for the Twins and Tanner Houck for the Red Sox. In two starts, Maeda has only given up 5 runs in 11 innings but has had little offensive support. Houck, on the other hand, has had a lot of help from the Red Sox offense in his starts, as he is 2-0 on the season.

This will be Houck’s toughest test of the season against a good Twins team. I think Verdugo continues his great month as he faces the right-handed Maeda. Verdugo is batting a red-hot .357 against right-handed pitchers so far this year. Also, four out of Verdugo’s five Extra base hits have come against right-handed pitchers this year. I expect him to cash 2+ total bases in this series finale at home.

While Verdugo reaches base safely, Devers will be the guy to score him with an RBI in this one. Devers also draws the plus matchup against the right-hander in this game. Against Righties this year, Devers has 11 of his 17 RBIs, including four HR. I’ll take Race to 4 runs for the Red Sox instead of the moneyline due to their bullpen being shaky at times this year. Look for an offensive game in Boston today, with the Red Sox having success early in this one.

Parlay Odds: +525

San Diego Padres vs. Arizona Diamondbacks

    • Leg 1: Padres Moneyline (-140)
    • Leg 2: Michael Wacha 3+ Strikeouts Thrown (-340)
    • Leg 3: Juan Soto 1+ RBIs (+175)
    • San Diego Padres Race to 4 Runs (-120)

Arizona is coming off a series win against the Cardinals, while the Padres lost two out of three at home vs. the Braves. Ryne Nelson has had a solid start to the year, posting a 1-0 record with some quality starts. In his first start of the year, Nelson gave up three runs in five innings pitched against the Padres. I expect the Padres to get to Nelson in their second game against him this year. I think Michael Wacha has another solid outing with at least four or five strikeouts against a Diamondbacks lineup with several right-handed hitters in the heart of the order.

Juan Soto has not been his typical self to start 2023, as he’s batting .194 and has an OPS of .790. However, he’s coming off three hits in the past two games, including an RBI in each game. Look for Soto to try and keep it rolling today against the right-handed Nelson, who has given up two HRs to Soto in his career. I expect the Padres to get out to an early start in this one on their way to reaching 4 runs first while Wacha controls the Diamondbacks lineup.

Parlay Odds: +425
