Arizona Diamondbacks at Milwaukee Brewers

The Diamondbacks will send out Brandon Pfaadt for Game 1 of the Wild Card series. Pfaadt is a rookie pitcher who has allowed a .251 ISO and wOBA of .369 to 422 batters this season. Lefties have hit a .261 ISO and wOBA of .373, while righties have hit a .243 ISO and wOBA of .366 against Pfaadt this season. The rookie right-hander has been better over time. However, he’s still allowed a .231 ISO and wOBA of .360 over the last month.

There’s a ton of pressure on the rookie to give the Diamondbacks a good outing, but it’s unlikely that he does. Pfaadt has allowed more fly balls than ground balls, both throughout the season and in the last month. He’s also allowed a 12% barrel percentage in the previous 30 days.

With that said, Christian Yelich has been on fire against righties over the last month. He’s hit a .242 ISO and wOBA of .384 against his last 43 righties. Meanwhile, Willy Adames has smashed a .222 ISO and wOBA of .365 over the last 30 days, while Tyrone Taylor has hit a .366 ISO and wOBA of .399.

The Brewers have a lot of advantages in the lineup. Strikeouts can get high, but once these guys connect, it’ll be bad news for Pfaadt.

Parlay Odds: +617

Miami Marlins at Philadelphia Phillies

The Miami Marlins are going with Jesus Luzardo for Game 1 of the Wild Card Series. Luzardo has been solid throughout the season for the Marlins, but he’s been slightly more inconsistent than Zack Wheeler, who will take the mound for the Phillies. Philadelphia is also home and has hit very well against lefties over the last month.

Luzardo has watched 563 righties hit a .188 ISO and wOBA of .333 this season. These aren’t horrific numbers but they’re still below average. He’s also allowed righties to hit 39.1% of fly balls while inducing only 30.4% of ground balls. That typically won’t get the job done.

Meanwhile, the Phillies have a lot of strong bats against lefties. Trea Turner has socked a .265 ISO and wOBA of .347 against his last 38 lefties. He’s also struck out only 21.1% of the time against lefties in the previous month. Nick Castellanos has hit a .478 ISO and wOBA of .507 against his last 28 lefties. Castellanos has only struck out 17.9% of the time against lefties over the previous month. Finally, Alec Bohm has slugged a .455 ISO and wOBA of .368 in the last 30 days against lefties. He has also struck out just 13% of the time.

While Luzardo is a high strikeout pitcher, he’s facing a lot of righties that don’t typically strike out. Back the Phillies’ righties in the night game.

Parlay Odds: +791
