Chicago Cubs vs. Oakland Athletics

I’m loving the Chicago Cubs tonight. Who wouldn’t? They’re facing the Oakland Athletics, who are just 3-14 on the season.

Ken Waldichuk will take the hill for the Athletics. He holds a 10.20 ERA and has an xFIP of 6.24. His strikeouts are down, and his walks are up. He’s also allowing a wOBA of .388 and ISO of .375 to lefties and a .467 wOBA and ISO of .375 to righties. He’s mainly faced righties this year as a left-handed pitcher.

The Cubs will have eight righties in the lineup, including Nico Hoerner and Dansby Swanson at the top of the lineup. Both hitters have a wOBA of around .400 against lefties. They’ve each hit low-ground balls and high-line drives. This is an excellent matchup against Waldichuk.

On the other hand, Marcus Stroman has struck out 28.2% of batters to begin the year. He’ll take on an Oakland lineup that has struck out 23.2% of the time against righties. He’s got four targets that strike out at a very high rate. But Stroman figures to get through this lineup multiple times tonight.

The Athletics have hit a .171 ISO and wOBA of .318 against righties. But that’s only because of Brent Rooker and Shea Langeliers. The rest of the lineup has been very weak. Currently, Stroman is getting nearly 70% of ground balls. He’ll have a great night if he keeps those two off the bases.

Parlay Odds: +570

Atlanta Braves vs. San Diego Padres

Tonight’s supposed to be a battle between two aces. And it might be. But we’ll get plenty of balls in play between the Padres and Braves.

Spencer Strider of the Braves has struck out 40.9% of batters this season. Chances are, that won’t continue against San Diego. The Padres have struck out just 21.4% of the time against righties and have only four batters striking out 25% or more against righties.

On the other hand, Blake Snell has allowed a wOBA of .417 and ISO of .300 to his first 48 righties this year. He’ll face a predominantly right-handed lineup, including Sean Murphy, with a .429 ISO and wOBA of .561 against lefties. He should continue his power serge tonight against Snell.

Snell’s pitch count is always getting high early. If he can only go five innings tonight, I don’t believe he’ll be able to reach seven strikeouts.

Parlay Odds: +688
