Minnesota Twins @ Chicago White Sox

The Chicago White Sox will pitch Michael Soroka tonight. He’s a right-handed pitcher with a 6.83 ERA to begin the year. Soroka has been bad against both sides of the plate. He’s kept walks down to righties and has limited fly balls to righties. However, lefties have knocked 29.4% of fly balls and struck out only 9.9% of the time, while hitting a .224 ISO and wOBA of .399 against Soroka this season.

We’ll stack some Minnesota lefties against Soroka here.

Since last season, Edouard Julien has hit a .239 ISO and wOBA of .386 against righties. Meanwhile, Max Kepler has smacked a .227 ISO and wOBA of .355 against righties in his last 426 plate appearances against righties. Finally, Alex Kirilloff has hit a .191 ISO and wOBA of .370 against his last 343 righties.

Minnesota has a ton of potential against Soroka tonight. You can’t go wrong stacking up any of the Minnesota lefties in a parlay, including Trevor Larnach.

Pittsburgh Pirates @ Oakland Athletics

The Athletics will give Alex Wood another go tonight. Wood is a left-handed veteran pitcher with a 6.59 ERA to begin the year. Wood has faced 132 batters this season and has only recorded 18.9% strikeouts. Furthermore, he’s allowed a .217 ISO and a wOBA of .441 to those batters.

While he’s struggled against lefties, he’s been destroyed by right-handed batters. The lefty has given up a .234 ISO and wOBA of .443 with just 28.8% of ground balls induced and 33.9% of line drives allowed.

Stacking Pirates righties is the way to go.

Connor Joe is a righty who has been hitting a .186 ISO and wOBA of .365 against lefties since last season. Then there’s Edward Olivares, who has slugged a .236 ISO and wOBA of .352 since last season versus lefties. Lastly, Ke’Bryan Hayes has hit a .230 ISO and wOBA of .376 against lefties in his last 200 plate appearances against lefties.

What stands out the most about these three batters is their strikeout rate. Since last year, all three batters have struck out below 20% of the time against lefties. With Wood allowing 50.8% of hard contact to righties and earning only 20.2% of strikeouts, we’ll take a chance with these three righties in the Pittsburgh lineup.
