MLB Same Game Parlay Odds, Picks & Predictions: Tuesday (5/16)

We’ve got no afternoon baseball on the slate today. But there’s still plenty of action in the night.

The league has been filled with surprises through about 40 games this season. The spenders like the New York Mets and San Diego Padres have losing records. Meanwhile, the Pittsburgh Pirates and Baltimore Orioles are having incredible seasons.

The tables have turned.

Anyway, here are multiple same-game parlays for tonight’s action.

Washington Nationals vs. Miami Marlins

Fresh off a series win against the New York Mets, I like the Nationals again tonight. The Nationals faced left-hander David Peterson yesterday and smacked him around. They’ll face Jesus Luzardo, another lefty, and should have some advantages in their lineup.

Luzardo has had a 5.32 xFIP over the last 30 days. He’s also earned just 30.1% of ground balls and is giving up close to 40% of hard contact.

His last 97 righties faced have hit a .396 wOBA and ISO of .267. Meanwhile, Lane Thomas is hitting a .353 wOBA and ISO of .384 against lefties in his last 19 plate appearances against them. Thomas should lead off and get multiple chances against Luzardo.

Alex Call will hit deeper in the lineup. But he’s also hitting a .250 ISO and a wOBA of .438 against his last 20 lefties faced. Call has smacked 33.3% of line drives and has limited ground balls to 25% in that time frame.

Finally, Joey Meneses hasn’t been very consistent offensively this year. But yesterday, he returned to form. He’s the most powerful right-handed hitter in the Nationals lineup and could also take advantage of Luzardo.

Parlay Odds: +601

Arizona Diamondbacks vs. Oakland Athletics

The Arizona Diamondbacks will face left-handed pitcher Kyle Muller. Muller has a 6.65 xFIP over the last month and has struck out only 13.6% of batters.

He’s earned fewer than 40% of grounders and is giving up over 24% of line drives. Muller has also allowed 46% of hard contact in the last 30 days and has struggled to get lefties and righties out.

His last 97 righties have hit a .432 wOBA and ISO of .225. He’ll face mostly righties in this Arizona lineup, including Ketel Marte and Christian Walker. Marte has a .281 ISO and wOBA of .376 against his last 38 lefties faced. Meanwhile, Walker has a .414 ISO and wOBA of .444 against his last 35 lefties.

Walker has hit just 19% of ground balls and has smashed nearly 29% of line drives against lefties in the last 30 days.

Plus, the Arizona projected lineup has struck out only 20% of the time against lefties. Only four batters have struck out more than 15.8% of the time against lefties. Muller’s going to have a hard time racking up the strikeouts.

Parlay Odds: +445
