Wednesday’s Best MLB Same Game Parlay Bets

(Odds courtesy of DraftKings Sportsbook)

St. Louis Cardinals vs. Cincinnati Reds

Steven Matz has struggled mightily thus far to open the season with a walk rate much higher than his career norms. He is also allowing too many long balls. His ERA is over 5.0 thus far, and while the estimators show a bit better numbers, he is still struggling mightily. He faces a Reds offense that has been well below average against left-handers with a wRC+ of 88, but they have several interesting bats at the top of the order.

Additionally, the game is being played in Great American Ball Park, which we know helps to elevate home runs. The Reds are starting Ben Lively, who has had a bit of an up-and-down MLB career. But if the Reds can score the way we expect them to, then it shouldn’t matter as much if he can be dominant.

Matt McLain has gotten off to a nice start early in his MLB career with a 126 wRC+. However, he has a big strikeout problem with a K% over 40%. McLain has shown power at his last two stops in the Minors and, as a right-handed hitter, should have a nice platoon advantage against Matz.

Toronto Blue Jays vs. Tampa Bay Rays

The Rays are coming off a game where they gave up 20 runs to this Blue Jays offense, but they are sending their ace, Shane McClanahan, to the mound. The lefty struggled a bit two starts ago but has been excellent for the rest of the season. The Blue Jays are sending Yusei Kikuchi to the mound, and the left-hander has been better this season, but he is still allowing way too many long balls. That is bad news for him as he faces the team who has hit the most home runs in baseball. The Rays should have no issues scoring against Kikuchi and reaching this total en route to a victory.

If the Rays are going to score, Isaac Paredes is likely to find himself in the middle of it. Paredes has a 138 wRC+ in his career against left-handers and has a slugging percentage over 0.450. While he is not the Rays’ best hitter, he has ample power and has been a big part of the Rays’ offensive success.

Parlay Odds: +425

New York Mets vs. Chicago Cubs

Everything about these lines seems off to me. The game total is a paltry 6.5. While Kodai Senga and Marcus Stroman have both been very good, they are not talented enough for this low of a game total. Stroman will likely be amped up to face his old team and keep his season rolling. However, since they started giving their youngsters additional playing time, the Mets have been one of the hottest teams in baseball. Their offense is still more league average than elite, but they have enough interesting power hitters to do damage against Stroman in this one. Senga has been a mix of elite and bad in his starts this season. The Cubs have a patient offense with a high walk total, which could cause him to struggle. But if his last outing is any indication, his upside is a true ace.

Pete Alonso has consistently been one of the best power hitters in all of baseball. He succeeds in several ways, but one of them is by hitting a lot of fly balls. It is a long-held theory that fly-ball hitters are more successful against groundball pitchers, and as a result, it makes him a great matchup against Stroman.

Parlay Odds: +450
