Milwaukee Brewers at New York Yankees
- Leg 1: Yankees Moneyline (-166)
- Leg 2: Yankees Team Total Over 4.5 Runs (-110)
- Leg 3: Yankees Race To 3 Runs (-120)
It will be Max Fried’s much-anticipated debut for the Yankees. He was the Atlanta ace the last few years, and over his last four seasons (112 starts), he has a 2.81 ERA and 1.093 WHIP with two All-Star appearances. Fried has only faced Rhys Hoskins (32 at-bats), Christian Yelich (19 at-bats), and Jake Bauers (3 at-bats), some of the top guys in the Brewers lineups, and they are hitting a combined .204.
The pop of the Yankees lineup started early. Austin Wells began the season with a home run, and one of the new Yankees in the lineup, Cody Bellinger, went 1-for-2 with a sacrifice fly.
We have the revenge factor early in the season. The Yankees parted ways with Nestor Cortes in the offseason, and his first start out of a Yankees uniform will be against his old team. He's a fantastic pitcher and a high-velocity strikeout guy, as he averages a career strikeout per inning. The reason they might not have had a problem parting with Cortes is that he hasn't been able to replicate his 2022 All-Star season, where he was 12-4 with a 2.44 ERA, and over his last two seasons, he's 14-12 with a 4.09 ERA and multiple IL stints.
The Brewers’ lineup was relatively quiet in the first game, especially the top of the lineup, where the 1-4 hitters were 0-for-15 with nine strikeouts.
The Yankees were 16th against left-handers last year, but Cortes has problems with teams that don't chase bad pitches. The Yankees had the lowest chase rate in the league, and they could put him in pressure situations throughout this game.

Boston Red Sox at Texas Rangers
- Leg 1: Over 9 Total Runs (-105)
- Leg 2: Both Teams To Score 3+ Runs (-135)
- Leg 3: Over 0.5 First Inning Runs (-105)
Walker Buehler put up some great numbers in his Dodgers career with a 2-to-1 win/loss ratio and 3.27 ERA in seven seasons. The problem is he's been limited to 28 starts in the last three seasons, which includes missing the entire 2023 season. If he can stay in the rotation, he's a fantastic top-end starter.
The Red Sox upgraded their batting order and picked up Alex Bregman, but the top of the order was quiet in the first game. However, the bottom of the order did all the work, especially WIlly Abreu, who went 3-for-3 and homered twice with four RBI.
The other starter has also had problems staying on the field. Tyler Mahle has only made 12 starts in the last three seasons due to multiple arm and shoulder injuries. If he can replicate his previous full season in Cincinnati, where he had 13 wins, a 27.7% strikeout rate, and a 34.4% hit rate, he can be an excellent piece for a rotation with some questions.
This Rangers lineup is dangerous when healthy, and last year, their lack of health was the theme and why they could not defend their championship. With questions on the pitching staff, they will rely on this lineup a lot this season.
