MLB Same Game Parlay Odds & Picks: Sunday (7/21)

Tampa Bay Rays at New York Yankees
- Leg 1: Yankees Moneyline (-162)
- Leg 2: Over 8.5 Total Runs (-120)
- Leg 3: Yankees Over 4.5 Team Total Runs (-125)
The Yankees started off the second half strong with a win over the Rays, but Saturday saw similar results to how they ended the first half: bad pitching and no hitting. The Yankees have lost eight of their last nine series, so to have a chance to win this one, they need a victory today.
Marcus Stroman looked like a fantastic signing at the start of the season, but like a lot of the pitchers on this staff he has some mixed results with 5.68 ERA and opponents have a .433 slugging in his last five starts. He best start was his last one against the Rays where he allowed one earned in 4.1 innings.
The Rays have been hovering at .500, but in the new playoff system with three Wild Card spots, they’re still in playoff contention.
It will be tough for them to climb over a couple of teams, but they have the advantage of playing in the American League East where two spots are owned by a team in that division, so they have a chance to play the teams ahead of them.
The problem is they’ve always had a great pitching staff to rely upon ( this year they don’t) and a formable lineup (another thing they don’t have).
Shane Baz’s 2024 debut was against the Yankees after missing all of 2023 with Tommy John surgery and allowed three runs in the 4.1 innings.
The Yankees are facing an inexperienced pitcher who they’ve seen this year, which could help them after looking bad the previous day.

St. Louis Cardinals at Atlanta Braves

The Braves went into this series with a four-game lead for the first Wild Card spot against tonight’s opponent and with them splitting the double-header, they couldn’t gain any ground.
Atlanta’s biggest disappointment this year has been their offense. Losing Ronald Acuna Jr. doesn’t help, but with the exception of Marcell Ozuna, most of the lineup has been a disappointment.
They do have one of the best pitching staffs in the league that includes the current leading National League Cy Young candidate and collectively have the best ERA in all of baseball. Rookie Spencer Schwellenbach has really come along as he’s allowed one run in each of his last two starts, one of those was against the Phillies.
Philadelphia leads the league in runs scored per game and the Cardinals are 23rd. St. Louis has a lot of problems; they’re not getting production from their offense with guys like Paul Goldschmidt and Nolan Arenando having down years, and with the exception of Sonny Gray, they don’t have a dependable rotation. That includes Miles Mikolas, who is having another terrible season and is coming off his sixth start where he’s allowed at least five earned.
This Braves roster is batting .333 against Mikolas, and the offense should help grab an important win.
