Tuesday’s Best MLB Sleeper Picks Player Predictions

Sleeper Record: 17-12

Zack Wheeler Under 1.5 Walks (1.81x)

Wheeler is an auto-play at this price. He’s an elite control artist when it comes to walking batters, ranking in the 93rd-percentile in BB% last season. Including the postseason, he stayed under this mark in 27/36 starts last year, 23/32 in 2022, and in both starts this season. Add that all up and you’re looking at a 74% hit rate over his last 70 starts. He takes on the Cardinals today. Nine of the 11 starters to face the Cards this season have stayed under this mark as well.

Cristian Javier Under 2.5 Earned Runs (1.76x)

Javier is off to a great start this season. Through two starts, he has yet to allow a single run: 11 scoreless innings, five hits, and nine strikeouts. Six walks is a little glaring. Javier also rarely stays in the game much longer than five innings, creating even more value on this. His out prop sits at 15.5 (-140 to the under) via DraftKings. He takes on the Royals, who have been solid at the dish early on but generally don’t project as a very intimidating lineup.

Sonny Gray Under 4.5 Strikeouts (1.59x)

Making his Cardinals debut, Gray will have a pitch count hovering around 65 today. The righty strained his hamstring in his second Spring Training start, hence the delayed start to his season. He threw 50 pitches in a tune up start last week, and then missed the next rehab outing due to rain. Gray is a solid starter, but he’s not known to strike many batters out. He ranked in the 56th-percentile in K% and 48th-percentile in whiff% last season. The pitch count likely puts him around four to five innings at the maximum, so this is an easy call to take the under.
