MLB To Hit a Home Run Player Prop Picks & Predictions: Friday (6/2)

All 30 teams are set to hit the diamond tonight as Major League Baseball heads into a jam-packed weekend of action. With all of the games comes a plethora of betting options, from moneyline wagers to player props.

For me, I'm focusing on the latter as I narrow in on these three player props. Let's dive into my top three bets for who I think has a great chance to hit a home run tonight.

MLB YTD: 39-63 (+16.82 Units)

Kyle Schwarber (+195)

The Phillies continue to disappoint through the first quarter of the season as they enter this weekend's play riding a four-game losing streak. They'll attempt to get back into the win column tonight when they send Zack Wheeler to the bump to face the Nationals. Washington counters with Josiah Gray in this divisional tilt scheduled for 7:05 p.m. EST from Nationals Park in Washington, D.C.

Gray has actually developed into a reliable option for the Nationals. The right-hander comes into this one at just 4-5 but owns a 2.77 ERA and 1.41 WHIP over 11 starts (61.2 IP). Most recently, he faced the Royals on Saturday and gave up two earned runs on four hits and three walks over 4.0 innings. It was a no-decision effort in a 4-2 win.

The 25-year-old hurler will take on a familiar opponent tonight in the Phillies. The current roster has found plenty of success against him as they're slashing .294/.333/.784 with seven home runs over 51 at-bats. Two of those long balls belong to Kyle Schwarber, who is 4-10 (.400) against him in his career. The left fielder has struggled this season, as he's hitting just .160, but he still possesses plenty of power. Schwarber has 13 bombs already, and I think he'll have a chance to collect No. 14 tonight.

Jack Suwinski (+475)

After a red-hot start to the season, the Pirates returned to earth and dropped their last nine series. However, Pittsburgh found success in their midweek series as they took two out of three games against the Giants out west. They return home tonight looking for their third straight win, and they'll send Roansy Contreras to the hill. The visiting Cardinals opt for Jack Flaherty in this series opener slated for 7:05 p.m. EST from PNC Park in Pittsburgh.

Flaherty's developmental curve has really flattened over the last season-plus due to lingering injury issues. The right-hander still hasn't gotten back on track, as he's just 3-4 this season with a 4.81 ERA and 1.53 WHIP over 11 starts (58.0 IP). He made five starts in May and posted a 5.88 ERA and 1.65 WHIP.

The Pirates have a mediocre slash line against him in his career, as the current lineup is slashing .236/.323/.400 with two big flies over 55 at-bats. Jack Suwinski stands out from the rest as he's 3-4 (.750) with a home run against the righty. The center fielder has developed into Pittsburgh's power hitter, and he currently leads the team with 11 homers this year. All 11 of those round-trippers have come off of RHP. Let's take a shot with Suwinski to go deep tonight.

Aaron Judge (+310)

The marquee series of the weekend pits the New York Yankees against the Los Angeles Dodgers for a trio of games out west. The pitching matchup in the series opener sees Luis Severino get the nod for the Yankees while the Dodgers counter with Clayton Kershaw. First pitch is scheduled for 10:10 p.m. EST from Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles.

Kershaw's putting together a decent 2023 campaign, as he's currently 6-4 with a 3.32 ERA and 1.14 WHIP over 11 starts. However, the left-hander didn't have a great May, as he recorded a 5.55 ERA and 1.72 WHIP over 24.1 innings of work. Kershaw gave up four home runs over the five-start span.

He won't have an easy task tonight as he'll take on a Yankees team that's scored 30 runs over their last four games. Furthermore, they've had Kershaw's number, slashing .293/.329/.541 against him over 133 at-bats. I'm riding with the upward-trending Aaron Judge to go yard tonight. The reigning MVP was on fire in May as he hit .342 and launched 12 home runs over 76 at-bats. He's 1-3 (.333) against Kershaw in his career, and the lone hit was a homer. Let's lock in Judge on the big stage tonight!
