MLB To Hit a Home Run Player Prop Picks & Predictions: Tuesday (6/20)
The MLB action continues tonight as all 30 teams gear up to hit the field. There are a few notable matchups taking place, including the Mets facing off with the Astros, the Padres squaring off against the Giants, and the Freeway Series between the Dodgers and Angels.
From a betting standpoint, I'm focusing my attention on home run props today. Here's who I'm picking to go yard tonight.
MLB YTD: 47-86 (+0.67)
Today's Best To Hit A Home Run Prop Bets
(Odds courtesy of DraftKings Sportsbook)
Javier Baez (+550)
The Tigers took care of business in last night's series opener, beating the Royals 6-4. They'll turn to Michael Lorenzen as they look for their third straight win. Kansas City counters with Daniel Lynch in this divisional clash scheduled for 6:40 p.m. ET from Comerica Park in Detroit, MI.
Lynch has had a rough start to the season, as he's 0-3 with a 5.79 ERA and 1.41 WHIP over four starts (23.1 IP). He's coming off of his worst outing of the year, a 7.0-inning performance where he surrendered seven earned runs on seven hits to the Reds. The left-hander gave up four home runs in that game, and he's now allowed five over his last two starts.
He'll be tasked with taking on a Detroit squad that's slashing .259/.295/.448 against him over 58 at-bats. Javier Baez stands out as he's 4-for-10 (.400) against the Southpaw with a home run and a double. He only has five big flies this year, but two of them have come this month. Also, in 52 at-bats against lefties, Baez's OPS climbs to .739 (vs. .620 regularly), and he has two homers. Let's take a shot with the +550 payout that the shortstop leaves the yard tonight.
Jorge Soler (+310)
The Marlins are coming off of a rout of the Blue Jays last night, winning 11-0 in the first game of the series. Tonight's pitching matchup features a battle between Yusei Kikuchi and Eury Perez. First pitch is scheduled for 6:40 p.m. ET from LoanDepot Park in Miami, FL.
Kikuchi has been a serviceable option for the Jays this year as he's 6-2 with a 4.31 ERA and 1.37 WHIP. However, the left-hander has been prone to giving up bombs, as he's allowed 19 homers over 71.0 innings of work this year.
I'll go ahead and back Jorge Soler to go deep tonight. The slugger has mashed the third-most home runs this year and comes into this contest with 21 on the season, including a two-run blast in last night's beatdown. In terms of the head-to-head numbers, Soler is 3-for-6 (.500) against Kikuchi with two round-trippers. I think there's a great chance he hits another one tonight.
Will Smith (+425)
Out to the Freeway Series, where the Angels get set to host the Dodgers for a pair of games. Clayton Kershaw gets the nod in the opener while the Halos counter with Reid Detmers. This one gets underway at 10:07 p.m. ET from Angel Stadium in Anaheim, CA.
Detmers hasn't been excellent this season, as he's just 1-5 with a 4.48 ERA and 1.46 WHIP. His challenge tonight is taking on a Dodgers squad that's third overall in the league in home runs (116) and fourth in OPS against left-handers at .794.
Enter Will Smith, who has been a nightmare for lefties this season. The backstop brings in an OPS of 1.023 when facing LHP and four of his 10 home runs have come against southpaws. As for the head-to-head numbers, Smith's 1-for-4 (.250) against Detmers with a home run and no strikeouts. Let's ride with Smith at +425 to go yard tonight.
