MLB Wild Card Same Game Parlay Odds, Picks & Predictions: Saturday (10/8)
Tampa Bay Rays vs. Cleveland Guardians
- Leg 1: Guardians ML (-112)
- Leg 2: Over 6 (-105)
- Leg 3: Triston McKenize over 5.5 strikeouts (-110)
This was the tightest game yesterday, with Shane Bieber and Shane McClanahan in a pitcherâs duel until the sixth inning, thanks to Yandy Diaz's home run for Tampa Bay. It was short-lived as Jose Ramirez countered for Cleveland with a two-run shot in the bottom of the inning that would be the game-winner.
The young Triston McKenize will take the mound for Cleveland in Game 2 to try and wrap up the series. He started the year off shaky like most of this rotation, but was impressive after June and finished with a 2.19 ERA. The Guardians went 11-5 in his final 16 starts. The Rays lineup is fresh on his mind as he went six innings and allowed one earned back on September 28th.
Tampa Bay will hand the fate of the season over to Tyler Glasnow in this elimination game. He's making just his second start this season as he returned from Tommy John surgery. His 2022 debut came in against Cleveland opposite of McKenzie, and the Guardians would go on to win in extra innings. This will likely be an all-hands-on-deck situation for the Rays, as Glasnow has yet to make it out of the fourth in the previous two starts.
This game was close yesterday, but it'll be different today, with the Guards getting a convincing and series-clinching win.
Philadelphia Phillies vs. St. Louis Cardinals
- Leg 1: Cardinals ML (+104)
- Leg 2: Over 6.5 (-118)
- Leg 3: Aaron Nola under 5.5 strikeouts (-130)
It looked like the Cardinals would have an easy route to a Game 1 win, but it did not happen that way. The Phillies would break out the offense, score six runs in the ninth, and steal the first game.
The Phillies will look to Aaron Nola to get the upset series win. When he's on, he's an exceptionally dominant pitcher that will force hitters to chase, but he's had moments this year when his pitches are breaking over the plate, and he ends up getting shelled. He had one of those bad starts against the Cardinals, allowing five earned in the loss.
St. Louis will counter with Miles Mikolas, who was the Cardinals' most consistent pitcher this season. The veteran is coming off a second All-Star appearance and led the rotation in wins (12), innings (202.1), and WHIP (1.033). Mikolas has two solid starts against Philadelphia this season, allowing five runs, three earned in 12.2 innings.
One inning completely changed the landscape of this series, but it will go better for the Cardinals today. They will force a Game 3.
Seattle Mariners vs. Toronto Blue Jays
- Leg 1: Mariner ML (+136)
- Leg 2: Robbie Ray over 4.5 strikeouts (+104)
- Leg 3: Adam Frazier to record 2+ total bases (+104)
The Mariners straight up came into Toronto with better pitching and hitting and took Game 1.
A possible storybook ending for Seattle, who will have Robbie Ray take the mound against the team he won a Cy Young with last season. Ray had a rough start this season but finished strong, going 7-6 with a 2.97 ERA after June 12th. He had one start in that span against the Jays, going six innings and allowing one earned in the win.
Kevin Gausman was essentially brought in to replace Ray in the rotation, and although he didn't have a Cy Young year, his 3.35 ERA was the second-best of his career, and the 2.38 FIP led the American League. He had an impressive start against the Mariners this year, allowing just two earned, but saw no run support and took the loss.
Gausman struggled at home this year, going 4-7 with a 4.57 ERA at the Rogers Centre and allowed five earned in three of his last six starts. This young Seattle team got the pressure off winning that first one and looks good to get the clean sweep on the road.
