MLB World Series Same Game Parlay Odds, Picks & Predictions: Phillies vs. Astros (10/28)
The fall classic begins tonight with the Philadelphia Phillies taking on the Houston Astros. This will be the Phillies for the time in the World Series since 2009, when they lost to the Yankees, but for the Astros, this is nothing new as they make their sixth appearance in the last ten years.
Justin Verlander will go for Houston as Philadelphia counters with Aaron Nola. The Philliesâ hot bats need to continue in order to break through on an Astros pitching staff thatâs been incredible all season.

Astros ML (-155)
The Astros are coming into this series as the third team since the division series began to start 7-0 in the playoffs.
They've been able to show a balance of contact and power on offense and have been able to tack on runs either way. They dominated the Yankees in ALCS offensively, and that's with Jose Altuve batting .094 and Kyle Tucker and Yordan Alvarez going cold in the ALCS.
The pitching has been phenomenal from end to end, with a 1.88 ERA in the playoffs, and the bullpen has an 0.62 ERA. They have the best pitcher of the 2022 season getting the Game 1 start, so if he can contain this hot Philadelphia offense, there isn't relief in the late innings. Phillies will have a tough time finding opportunities tonight.
Justin Verlander to record 7+ strikeouts (+100)
It's a no-brainer that Justin Verlander would be the Game 1 starter as he went 18-4 with a 1.75 ERA this season and will likely get his third Cy Young reward. The Phillies are fresh on his mind as he saw them in his last regular season start going five hitless innings with ten strikeouts. He's been successful against this lineup in the past with a 36.7 strikeout percentage, and the Phillies have the third-most strikeouts in the playoffs. He comes in with nine days of rest, and it never has rust going 24-9 with a 2.89 ERA lifetime and six more days between starts.
Bryce Harper to record 2+ total bases (+110)
Bryce Harper has lifted himself into MLB playoff folklore as he leads the postseason in hits, doubles, home runs, RBI, average, slug....well, you get it. It's everything. From St. Louis to Atlanta, then San Diego, he's faced top-tier pitching in each round and continued to stay hot. He's one of the few players in this Phillies lineup to have success off Verlander, going 2-for-5 lifetime. I love him to keep it going in Game 1.
