Monday Night Football Player Props, Picks & Predictions: Bears vs. Patriots (2022)

The futility of Justin Fields could be noticeable Monday night when Chicago takes on a Patriots team that has been pummeling fools the last couple of weeks. New England has a combined margin of victory of 52 points over its past two games, allowing just 15 total points in the process.

That could mean more tough sledding for Chicago, but how will it impact our player prop picks for MNF?

Monday Night Football Player Props, Picks & Predictions (Bears vs. Patriots)

David Montgomery Over 10.5 Receiving Yards (-115 via DraftKings Sportsbook)

Running lanes could be tough to come by for David Montgomery against a solid Patriots defense. However, his receiving line at DraftKings Sportsbook is almost comically low for a player that the Bears should rely upon in the passing game on Monday night.

The notion of the Bears’ offense in some third-and-long scenarios is reasonable given the troubling decision-making of Justin Fields at times this season. When that happens, it may take only one Montgomery reception to clear this 10.5-yard mark. Though Fields has not used him as a receiver the way previous Chicago quarterbacks did, Montgomery still has excellent skills in the role.

In Chicago’s last road game, Montgomery piled up 62 receiving yards on four catches. Montgomery has four games this year with at least one catch. He’s cleared this yardage total in each of those four games. With the Bears conceivably playing from behind on Monday, dump-offs to Montgomery should be part of the game plan.

Damien Harris Any Time Touchdown Scorer (+135 via FanDuel Sportsbook)

Though Rhamondre Stevenson had a monster game as the featured back for New England a week ago, Damien Harris has historically been a significant presence in this backfield when healthy. Surprisingly, it appears that Harris is already back to such status after missing just one week with what the team has reported as a hamstring injury.

Harris returned to full practice late in this week of game prep and should conceivably return to split a healthy dose of the workload with Stevenson. When it comes to work near the goal line, Stevenson has actually received more opportunities this season. It’s been Harris, though, who has been more effective with those touches. Harris has scored three touchdowns on five attempts inside the 10-yard line. On two rushing attempts inside the 5-yard line, Harris has converted for two touchdowns.

The Bears have allowed nine rushing touchdowns on the season, fourth-most in the NFL. On a per-game basis, Chicago surrenders 1.5 rushing touchdowns per game. Prior to leaving Week 6 early with his injury, Harris had scored a rushing touchdown in each of his last three games.

Rhamondre Stevenson Over 2.5 Receptions (+105 via DraftKings Sportsbook)

Harris should regain his foothold in the New England backfield. But Rhamondre Stevenson won’t suddenly become a ghost after the explosive performances he’s enjoyed over the past couple of weeks. During this Patriots’ demolition of the Lions and Browns, it’s been Stevenson who has operated as the team’s most important offensive player.

Stevenson should retain some value as a receiver out of the backfield this week. He has accrued 17 receptions on 21 targets through six games this season. Those numbers have been even more concentrated in recent weeks. Stevenson has drawn five targets and four receptions in three of his last four games.

Though the script for Monday night could involve another blowout with the Patriots favored by 8.5, Stevenson has proven himself as a capable check-down option. He is seeing enough work in the passing game to clear this threshold more times than not. The plus-money offering at DraftKings is an intriguing line.
