Philadelphia Phillies @ Los Angeles Angels
- Leg 1: Brandon Marsh Over 1.5 Total Bases (+135)
- Leg 2: Kyle Schwarber Over 1.5 Total Bases (-140)
- Leg 3: Bryce Harper Over 1.5 Total Bases (-130)
The Phillies will face Los Angeles Angels righty Griffin Canning tonight. Canning has allowed a .235 ISO and wOBA of .382 to his first 111 batters. However, while he's struggled against both sides, he's been even worse against lefties.
Lefties have smashed a .254 ISO and wOBA of .407 with 35.3% of fly balls and 37.3% of ground balls against Canning this season. The righty has also struck out below 20% of lefties to begin the season.
Meanwhile, the Phillies have some huge left-handed bats expected in the lineup. Brandon Marsh has smashed a .211 ISO and wOBA of .389 against his last 426 righties. Then there's Kyle Schwarber, who has hit a .291 ISO and wOBA of .352. He's an extra-base machine against righties. Lastly, Bryce Harper has hit a .211 ISO and wOBA of .387 against righties since last season.
Although Schwarber and Marsh are high-strikeout threats, Canning has seen his strikeout rate dip from 23.6% against lefties last season to just 19.7% this season. Canning has also allowed 51% of hard contact and has added just 9.1% of swinging strikes.
The left-handed Philly bats check out against Canning. Plus, the lineup only starts to look better going up against that Los Angeles bullpen once Canning is inevitably taken out of the game.
Stack up the lefties against the Angels tonight! Let's start the week off strong!

NBA Best Bets

Los Angeles Lakers @ Denver Nuggets
The Nuggets won the tip 61% of the time when Nikola Jokic started, which ultimately helped the Nuggets score first in 54% of games this season.
On the other hand, the Lakers only won the tip 58% of the time, with Anthony Davis as the tip-man. Therefore, the Lakers only scored first 51% of the time this season.
Furthermore, Jokic beat Davis 2-1 in the regular season when competing for the tip. In the playoffs, Davis and Jokic both won the tip twice head-to-head, and both teams scored the First Basket twice. However, the Lakers had to compete in a Play-In Game, and although they won the tip in that game, they didn't score first.
The edge sits with the Nuggets. The Lakers are typically poor against point guards early in the game. Point guards have scored 30% of the First Baskets this season against the Lakers. Therefore, we'll try Jamal Murray at +750. He scored the team's First Basket in 22% of games and attempted the team's first shot in 19% of games. While he only has six First Baskets this season, he also played just 59 games. This is a good matchup for Murray.
Bet: Jamal Murray (+750)

NHL Best Bets

Tampa Bay Lightning @ Florida Panthers
The Lightning held off being eliminated for at least one game and got the win in Game 4. This looked like a team that went to three straight Stanley Cup Finals and won two. They started off quickly with three goals in the first period, and although Florida pulled within a goal, Tampa Bay extended that lead in the third. The return of Mikhail Sergachev was massive after he suffered a broken leg in February, as he came through with an assist.
This was an overall sloppy game for the Panthers. The blue line was letting Tampa Bay get the puck to the crease, not pressuring them in the neutral zone, and letting them get clean passes and optimal shot opportunities. You almost felt like they knew they had a game to play with and knew the next game was at home.
You don't want to give a team like the Lightning any life. They will make this game interesting, and the offense should look as good as it did in Game 4. They still have problems on the blue line that the Panthers have been able to exploit.
Pick: Over 6.5 Total Goals (-105)
