MLB Best Bets

Atlanta Braves (-154vs. Texas Rangers (+130) | O/U 9 (-120/-102)

The Atlanta Braves endured a surprising three-game sweep at the Toronto Blue Jays, considering they are still nine games over .500 on the road. The offense struggled with just seven runs scored over the three-game series, but we expect a bounceback against a starting pitcher making his Major League debut.

The Rangers pivoted from Dane Dunning to southpaw Cody Bradford, who has allowed just four runs in 39 2/3 innings in the minors this year. However, the Braves are 9-4 against lefties this year, and they are not an easy opponent to face in one’s first MLB start. And Atlanta’s Charlie Morton’s xERA is more than 1.5 runs higher than his actual ERA (4.79 compared to 3.32), so we expect plenty of runs in a hitter’s ballpark.

The Over is 5-1-1 in the last seven meetings between these teams and has cashed in 10 of Atlanta’s 14 series openers. Thus, we expect double-digits runs to be scored between these two teams tonight.

Pick: Braves-Rangers Over 9 (-120)

NHL Playoffs Best Bets

Seattle Kraken (+160) at Dallas Stars (-190) | O/U 6.5 (-138/+112)

The Kraken were able to come through in a big way on Saturday to force a Game 7. The depth of the Seattle offense has been helping this team all season, and it continued again as five different players scored in this game. Jordan Eberle had two goals, and after a tough first round, he now has five goals and eight points in this series.

Philipp Grubauer wasn’t great in this game, with just a .870 save percentage, but he did enough. Multiple times he would allow the Stars to creep back into this game to where they never looked out of it. He’ll need to play much better, especially on the road.

Jake Oettinger was one of the best goalies during the regular season for Dallas, but he has struggled in this series with 3.98 goals allowed per game and a .865 save percentage. The Dallas defense needs to play better. They’ve done well at containing the Kraken and preventing them from getting high-danger shots in the previous two games, but they couldn’t do that in a close-out game.

The Stars offense needs another big showing. Joe Pavelski grabbed his eighth goal of the series as he stayed hot, and Jason Robertson had his fifth assist in three games. It’ll be all hands on deck for this Game 7, and they need this offense to be on the attack in this game.

One thing we’ve seen throughout this series is a lack of consistency. As expected, Dallas is the home favorite in this game, and deservedly so, but you don’t know what team you’ll see. On the side, Seattle’s offense has had good and bad games, but Grubauer wasn’t great even in a win, and he’s had some really bad games.

The safest bet for this game is the over six . The final score has hit the over in five of six games, and it’s been the most consistent part of this series.

Pick: Over 6 Goals (+100)

-John Supowitz
