MLB Best Bets

San Francisco Giants at Miami Marlins 6:40 ET

This is one of the best matchups of the day from the pitching side, with the Marlins sending Jesus Luzardo to the mound. While Sandy Alcantara is still the team's ace on paper, Luzardo has easily been their best arm thus far in 2023. The Giants have a wRC+ of 49 against left-handed pitching thus far and while they have recently added Darin Ruf, who has historically hit well against lefties, they are still a below-average offense.

The newly-extended Logan Webb gets the ball for the Giants, and while the Marlins do not have massive splits like the Giants do, they have a well below-average offense. Webb's numbers look worse than they are at this point, primarily due to home runs. The Marlins' offense is not full of elite power hitters, and the ballpark makes this an attractive matchup for Webb. Throughout his career, he has also allowed a 0.285 wOBA the first time through the order. This all aligns well for both starting pitchers.

NBA Playoffs Best Bets

Tyrese Maxey OVER 2.5 Threes (-102)

Game 1 was all 76ers as they rolled to a 121-101 win, and they held the win probably through the game. Joel Embiid led the team with 26 points, and James Harden played well against his former team scoring 23 points with 13 assists. The Nets were non-existent guarding the arc as Harden hit seven threes, and the Sixers hit 21 from deep.

Philly has the best three-point shooting efficiency in the league, and Brooklyn is 21st in three-point shooting efficiency allowed. Harden's prop total is low but isn't a great value. Maxey has the same number with a better value, and he's gone over this prop in two of the three games against the Nets this year and six of his last nine.

NHL Playoffs Best Bets

Florida Panthers (+184vs. Boston Bruins (-225) | O/U 6.5 (+102/-124)

The 2022-23 Bruins will go down as the greatest team of all time as they set the record for regular season wins and points. It's hard to find a flaw on this roster - their even-strength offense and defense were top two in the league, and they led in penalty kills as well.

They're hoping not to be a part of the Presidents' Cup curse. The last team to win the Presidents' and Stanley Cup was the 2012-13 Blackhawks, and only one other team has made it to the Conference Finals since.

The Panthers are part of that curse by winning it last year and being swept in the second round by the Lightning. Their success last year was with the best-scoring offense, and although the addition of Matthew Tkachuk proved to be a great move, they did not replicate their offensive numbers.

What also helped was efficient goaltending. Sergei Bobrovsky was great last year, going 39-7-3 and allowing 2.67 goals per game. However, those numbers dipped as he went 24-20-3 and allowed 3.07 goals and dropped from 23.7 goals saved above expected to 6.2.

All four of the matchups went over, and both teams can push the puck and score even with some good goaltending, so I'm expecting the over to hit again.

Pick: OVER 6.5 (+102)
