Green Bay Packers @ Las Vegas Raiders

The Packers are coming off an 11-day rest period after they got thoroughly outplayed by the Lions last Thursday night. It was a game where the Lions were feasting in the Green Bay backfield, punishing an injured offensive line. A key to the Packers in this game will be to keep the Raiders away from QB Jordan Love. The good news is that the Raiders really haven't gotten their pass rush going. They rank only 27th in adjusted sack rate. When Love has gotten time in the pocket, he's showcased the arm that made him a first-round draft pick.

The defense for the Packers has struggled to stop the run. The Lions were able to ice away the game last week in the second half on the ground. Green Bay's run defense ranks 25th in DVOA. Solid running teams can have a field day against them. Luckily for Green Bay, the Raiders are one of the worst running teams in the league. Las Vegas averages only 65.3 yards per game on the ground. RB Josh Jacobs had a huge year in 2022 but hasn't followed it up with success this season, averaging only 2.7 yards per carry. This might be an opportunity for the Vegas run game to get going, but I don't think they can.

The Packers are a team with their flaws, but the Raiders aren't the kind of team that is capable of exploiting them. Love should cook against this Raiders defense and play from ahead for most of this game. The Raiders won't be able to attack the poor run defense of Green Bay both due to the game script and inability to run the ball in general.

Bet: Packers +2.5 (-110)

Philadelphia Phillies vs. Atlanta Braves

I'm fading Zack Wheeler tonight. I don't think Wheeler gets blown up, but if Max Fried is 100% healthy, he should have a better outing than Wheeler. The Philadelphia pitcher has only struck out 19.7% of lefties in the last month. He's also allowed a .164 ISO and wOBA of .358 to his previous 66 lefties. In addition, Wheeler has allowed a .315 ISO to lefties this season and earned only 39.3% of grounders while giving up 25.7% of line drives. Therefore, Atlanta's lefties have an edge.

Ozzie Albies has smacked a .254 ISO and wOBA of .438 against his last 78 righties. Albies has struck out just 14.1% of the time against righties in the previous 30 days. Meanwhile, Matt Olson, another lefty, has hit a .392 ISO and wOBA of .558 against his last 64 righties. Olson has struck out just 15.6% of the time.

As a projected lineup, the Braves have struck out only 18.1% of the time against righties. Only Austin Riley has struck out more than 19.7% of the time against righties. With Wheeler averaging just 23.5% of strikeouts over the last month, his Under was added to the parlay.
