Las Vegas Raiders @ Detroit Lions

Even though the Lions looked pedestrian last week, the advanced analytics still love this Detroit team. RB David Montgomery, who was so impressive the first few weeks, will be out again. However, last week, rookie RB Jahmyr Gibbs began to break out, averaging 6.2 yards per carry. The Alabama product also scored his first career touchdown and hauled in nine catches for 58 yards. He'll be expected to have another big game against a Raiders' run defense that ranks 28th in DVOA.

The Raiders' offensive rushing attack leaves a lot to be desired, too. After a strong 2022 season, RB Josh Jacobs has fallen off, averaging only 2.9 yards per carry on the season. The Las Vegas run game ranks dead last in run offense DVOA. Detroit has played a few of the bottom teams in run offense. Tampa Bay, Green Bay and Carolina all rank 27th or lower in DVOA, and Detroit covered in those games with ease.

Garappolo is returning. This will help a pass offense that didn't do much with Aiden O'Connell or Brian Hoyer at QB. However, they go up against a vastly improved Detroit pass defense that was one of the worst in football last year. Detroit's biggest weakness this year has been going up against mobile QBs. Garappolo isn't known for his legs, and coming off of a back injury, don't expect him to run much. Overall, this is a great opportunity for Detroit to get right in front of what will be a raucous crowd on Monday night.

Chicago Bulls @ Indiana Pacers

The Chicago Bulls are having a lot of problems internally right now. The players meeting this early in the season should be a warning to bettors. The Bulls have two losses, and all of their problems internally make this a high risk right now. The NBA is all about consistency and betting value. The Bulls are missing both of these. 

The season is early, but the Pacers look like last year's Sacramento Kings. That means they are a younger team that is showing a lot of promise. They have been fantastic offensively and have plenty of depth to get them through this season. The struggles with the Bulls and the growth of the Pacers make this an opportunity for bettors to take a team with a lot of value right now.

Texas Rangers @ Arizona Diamondbacks

  • Leg 1: Corbin Carroll Over 1.5 Total Bases (+110)
  • Leg 2: Ketel Marte Over 1.5 Total Bases  (+100)
  • Leg 3: Alek Thomas Over .5 Hits (-200)

Max Scherzer will take the hill for the Rangers tonight. He's a veteran righty who has allowed a .370 ISO and wOBA of .467 over his last 30 batters since making his 2023 playoffs debut two games ago. Scherzer has allowed a .286 ISO and wOBA of .337 to his last nine lefties. He's also struck out just 11.1% of lefties in the previous month.

Corbin Carroll has smashed a .273 ISO and wOBA of .388 against his last 41 righties, and he's struck out only 19.5% of the time against righties. Meanwhile, Ketel Marte has also hit an ISO of .233 with a wOBA of .388. His strikeout rate is a bit higher, but Scherzer's strikeout rate is usually lower against lefties than righties.

Finally, Alek Thomas needs one hit for this parlay. He's knocked a .300 ISO and wOBA of .367 against his last 45 righties. He's also one of three batters that have hit over 27% of line drives against righties in the previous 30 days.
