Chicago Bears @ Minnesota Vikings

The Vikings struggled early on in the season, but they’ve surged back into contention, even after losing Kirk Cousins for the season. Quarterback Joshua Dobbs has been a great pickup for Minnesota, leading them to a 2-1 record. Barring a great end to the season, the Bears will not be playing past Week 18. Still, the offense with Justin Fields is so much better in his return and kept them in contention against the Lions until he fumbled late, leading to a defensive touchdown.  These are two below-average defenses that are allowing 20-plus points per game each.

Dobbs has found success, keeping the Vikings in contention. He’s been able to score, posting a passing and rushing touchdown in each game he’s played with Minnesota. As he learns the offense, he’s been using his legs. While the Bears’ passing defense has been getting torched all season, the run defense has been one of the league’s best, allowing the second-fewest rushing yards. Dobbs will not have to revert to the run as much against this secondary, so look for that rushing total to be lower.

No one on the Bears missed Fields more than receiver D.J. Moore. In Weeks 2-5, Moore was the clear WR1. With Tyson Bagent at quarterback, Moore didn’t have a catch rate over 70% in any game. With Fields, he has seven games above that rate. Moore should get a ton of targets in a game that could turn into a shootout.

Total parlay odds: +531

NBA Best Bets

Los Angeles Lakers @ Philadelphia 76ers

The Philadelphia 76ers have only won the tip in 38% of games this season. While they’ve added the first field goal in 50% of games, it’s unlikely that Philadelphia gets possession of the ball first against the Lakers.

The Lakers have earned the tip in 56% of games. They’ve also added the game’s first field goal in 50% of games. However, the Lakers have attempted the first field goal in 56% of games, while the 76ers have only attempted the first field goal in 38% of games.

The Lakers should have the first opportunity to score the first basket tonight.

Los Angeles’s starting five will likely include Anthony Davis, LeBron James, D’Angelo Russell, Taurean Prince and Max Christie. With this lineup, it’s been mostly Davis doing the early work. Davis has taken the team’s first field goal attempt in 33% of games and has scored the team’s first field goal in 27% of games.

He’s been the most efficient scorer on the Lakers regarding the first basket. Let’s take a chance with Davis again tonight.

Bet: Anthony Davis (+500)

Vegas Golden Knights @ Calgary Flames

After the 10-0-1 start to the season, the defending champs have hit a skid, going 3-5-1 in their past 10. Vegas’ defense had been playing better than expected when looking at difference; they’re 21st in expected goals against and third in total goals allowed per game.

Calgary could be getting better soon enough. They’ve beaten some playoff potential teams but have also stayed close in some of the losses. The team needs to be more consistent, but they are getting better goaltending, with Jacob Markstrom being 4-1-1 with a .906 save percentage.

Things are moving in the right direction for the Flames, and at home, they can beat the Golden Knights, that are struggling.

Pick: Flames Moneyline (-105)
