NFL Best Bets

Green Bay Packers @ New York Giants

The Packers are on a three-game winning streak where they’ve gone into each contest as an underdog. The play of Jordan Love has been key. He’s been excellent, compiling 857 yards and eight touchdowns during the streak. However, one glaring stat also playing a huge role is the +5 turnover difference in these games. The Packers have played very well, but they’ve been the beneficiary of some big turnover opportunities, as none of the wins came by more than one score.

The Giants have been playing pretty well recently in their own right. Tommy DeVito has started to get comfortable in this offense, and he was able to lead the Giants to two straight wins. Another big reason the Giants have had success is the pass defense. The defense downright dominated Mac Jones and the Patriots two weeks ago and followed it up by shutting down the then-league passing leader Sam Howell to a 230-yard day on 45 attempts. The Giants have around a league-average pass defense per DVOA, but they’re playing some of their best ball now.

Love will struggle to succeed through the air against this defense. The Chiefs were able to slow him down a bit in the second half, and the Giants could have similar success. Offensively, New York should have some success on the ground, and given the trend of low-scoring games in primetime this season, a slow defensive ground game will serve the Giants well if they want to cover this spread.

Pick: Giants +6.0 (-112)

NBA Best Bets

Cleveland Cavaliers @ Orlando Magic

The Orlando Magic have been exciting this season. They’re sitting at 15-7 on the year and are playing terrific basketball. However, the Magic don’t always start strong. Orlando is last in the NBA in tip win percentage, with only 27% of tips won. Orlando basically wins the tip in one of every four games.

The Magic have also hit the first field goal in 36% of games and have attempted the first field goal in 36% of games. It’s taken the Magic 2.1 field goal attempts to score the first basket, one of the league’s worst rates.

Meanwhile, the Cavaliers have won the tip in 59% of games. They’ve also hit the first field goal in 45% of matchups and have taken the game’s first field goal attempt in 50% of matchups. They’re much more consistent than the Magic and should ultimately get the ball first to score first.

It’s usually Donovan Mitchell getting that first look. Mitchell has hit the first field goal in six of 17 starts, despite only hitting one first field goal in his last 10 games. Mitchell leads the Cavaliers by taking 41% of the team’s first field goal attempts. He’s also nailed the team’s first field goal in 35% of games. Let’s ride with Mitchell here.

Bet: Donovan Mitchell (+420)

NHL Best Bets

Arizona Coyotes @ Buffalo Sabres

The Coyotes must have felt like Icarus by flying up to the sun, but they got too close and fell to earth. After winning five straight, they’ve dropped back-to-back games, losing by a combined score of 9-4. Goalie Connor Ingram propelled them during that stretch, but he’s allowed nine goals with a .836 save percentage over the last two games.

The big problem with the Sabres this year is having their full lineup on ice; it hasn’t happened. They finally got Tage Thompson back, and he has points in three straight, but Alex Tuch, Zemgus Girgensons, Ukko-Pekka Luokkenen and Jordan Greenway remain out of the lineup. The team needs to keep their head above water long enough because this is a great roster when they’re healthy.

Pick: Coyotes Moneyline (+110)
