Los Angeles Lakers vs. Memphis Grizzlies
No one is giving the Lakers a chance now. With LeBron James expected to miss a lot of time, the Lakersâ playoff hopes are in danger. Plus, DâAngelo Russell is expected to miss tonightâs game as well.
The Lakers are just 29-32 on the season and 12th in the Western Conference. Los Angeles still has plenty of time to get back into the playoffs. Itâs just going to be complicated.
The Grizzlies are one of the best defenses in the NBA, holding teams to 110.1 points per 100 possessions. Opponents also shoot a 52.2% effective field goal percentage while earning over 15% of turnovers. Memphis rarely gets into foul trouble, and while the Grizzlies donât dominate the defensive glass, the Lakers havenât been dominating the offensive glass very much this season. Adding Jarred Vanderbilt should help their case, but the Memphis defense should have its way overall.
Meanwhile, the Grizzlies wonât see the foul line at a high rate. Ultimately, the Lakers will also do an excellent job at limiting turnovers. But the Grizzlies have always been very good on the offensive glass, earning second chances. Limiting turnovers will give the Grizzlies more shots and second chances opportunities.
Back the Grizzlies at -8.5 in tonightâs game.
Bet: Grizzlies -8.5 (-110)
Minnesota Timberwolves vs. Los Angeles Clippers
The Los Angeles Clippers are 0-2 in the Russell Westbrook era. Theyâve lost two games in overtime and didnât even let Westbrook play in the fourth quarter and overtime of their previous game against the Nuggets.
The Clippers and Nuggets each have a win against one another this season. Both home teams got the win. Tonight, the Clippers will be home and are -6-point favorites.
Los Angeles will do a good job limiting offensive rebounds and foul shots, but the Timberwolves ultimately get good looks from the floor. Minnesota could stick around offensively, knowing how poorly the Clippers have defended recently. The Clippers have put up ridiculous offensive numbers over the last two games, but the defense has been so bad that theyâve lost both games.
Yet, the total is still at just 234.5. This game should get into the 120s for both teams. Minnesota allowed 121 to Charlotte not too long ago. Ride the Over.
Bet: Over 234.5 (-110)
