Top 3 NBA Betting Odds, Picks & Predictions: Friday (12/16)

1. Hornets -2 (-110)

Two teams in free fall will face off tonight in Charlotte, as the Hawks come to town having lost five of their past six games. With three starters in Capela, Collins, and Murray sidelined for at least another week, superstar Trae Young has been unable to carry the load in their absence.

The Hornets, who are dealing with injury woes of their own, enter tonight on a six-game losing streak, having recently lost in overtime on Wednesday 134-141 vs. Detroit. Having now allowed 119 points or more in six straight games, the lack of offense from Atlanta tonight will be welcomed.

The Hornets edge out a close one.

2. Knicks +2.5 (-110)

After a rocky start to the season, the Knicks have now quietly won five straight games, most recently against this Bulls team on Wednesday 128-120 in overtime. They stayed in Chicago and now will look to hand the Bulls their third straight loss and sixth in their past eight games.

Currently in the bottom 19 in the league in FG% and 3PT% allowed, the Bulls’ defense has been of major concern and in large part their downfall. That’s the opposite of the problem facing the Knicks, who are top 10 nearly across the board in defensive metrics.

I like for the Knicks to once again play better down the stretch in this one, as they slowly inch up the Eastern Conference standings.

3. Nuggets -1 (-110)

Having now won three straight games, the Nuggets are starting to heat up heading into the holidays for one of the first times this season. Coming into tonight, they lead the league in both FG% (50.8%) and 3PT% (39.1%), as their offense continues to be one of the best in the league.

The opposite can be said for the Lake Show, as they start Friday dead last in the league in 3pT% at 32% on the season. With both LeBron James and Anthony Davis on-and-off the injury list, they come into this one once again listed as probable.

Look for The Joker and company to be too much.
