Top NBA Odds, Picks & Predictions: Mavericks vs. Pelicans
Dallas Mavericks vs. New Orleans Pelicans
The Dallas Mavericks have looked like the best offense in the league through two games. They’ll look to keep up their hot offense against the New Orleans Pelicans, who will likely be without Zion Williamson and Brandon Ingram.
Ingram is out with a concussion, but Williamson is questionable with a hip injury.
The Mavericks score 122.3 points per 100 possessions through the season’s first two games. They’ve also shot an effective field goal percentage of 59.1%, leading the league. The offense will have no problems scoring against the Pelicans, who have been average in almost every big category defensively.
Luka Doncic is currently averaging 33.5 points per game to pace the Mavericks. Newly acquired center Christian Wood has averaged 25 points per game and is making a difference.
Conversely, the Pelicans have been the league’s second-best offense, scoring 120.4 points per 100 possessions. However, losing Ingram and potentially Williamson will only hurt the offensive production in this game. The Pelicans are still shooting just a 52.8% effective field goal percentage, and while they’ve been dominant on the offensive glass, it might be harder to earn second chances against Dallas.
The Mavericks have allowed 21.2% of offensive rebounds through two games, while the Pelicans have earned 39.7% of offensive rebounds. Still, Williamson and Ingram have combined for over 12 rebounds a game and 44 points per game. Without their production, the Pelicans are left with CJ McCollum and Jonas Valanciunas as the top two scorers.
The depth weakens there.
