Cleveland Cavaliers at Chicago Bulls
After a big offseason move to add Donovan Mitchell, the Cavaliers have high hopes on the season. They brought him in to add an extra gear to an offense that stalled out in key moments last year.
Early in the season they’ll look to get their new All-Star acclimated in the offense. Finding Mitchell on the first possession is one way to do it. Mitchell put up the first field goal in the Cleveland season opener and I think he’ll be the target often at the beginning of the year.

Houston Rockets at Milwaukee Bucks
Coming into the season, the Bucks are without Khris Middleton. This is an angle that is of interest to bettors of all different kinds of NBA markets, but it’s especially important for First Basket props.
Middleton was a go to scorer early for Milwaukee last year and his absence leaves opportunities for others. For this particular game, I’m going to target Grayson Allen who is taking Middleton’s spot in the starting lineup while he recovers from a wrist injury. Milwaukee is going to try to keep the offense running the same as if Middleton was in the lineup. Allen is capable of getting buckets himself so I really like the value here.

Los Angeles Clippers at Sacramento Kings
The Clippers are the focus here for me due to the matchup on the tip. Kings’ Domantas Sabonis was one of the worst jump ball winners in the league in 2021-22, by percentage. Though Zubac wasn’t phenomenal himself, he should have the advantage here.
So looking at the lineup for the Clippers the options are interesting. After a season opening win, stars Kawhi Leonard and John Wall will take a rest day in this matchup with the Kings. With these two out, Paul George will be the offensive focus. Because of this, George is a solid choice for First Basket.
