Top NBA First Basket Betting Odds, Picks & Predictions: Wednesday (11/9)

After a 24-hour break from the NBA, we’ve got plenty of exciting matchups tonight.

If you’re one of those who like to get bets over with early, we’ve got the market for you. We’ll look at first-basket options, meaning we’ll try to bet on the first player to score a basket in a few games tonight.

Here are a few potential options for tonight’s NBA First Basket market.

Dallas Mavericks vs. Orlando Magic

The Dallas Mavericks are winning the tip nearly 67% of the time. However, they’ve only scored the first field goal 33.3% of the time.

With Orlando winning the tip just 50% of the time, there’s a good chance Dallas gets the ball first to begin the game. It’s taken the Mavericks 2.7 shots to score their first field goal. I have a feeling that number is going to start to decrease in the next few games.

Luka Doncic has six of the team’s first field goals and has scored the first field goal twice for the Mavericks this season. He scored the first field goal for the Mavericks in six of nine starts.

There’s value on Luka at +360.

Bet: Luka Doncic (+360)

Detroit Pistons vs. Boston Celtics

The Boston Celtics have scored the first field goal 70% of the time this season. Meanwhile, the Detroit Pistons have only scored the first field goal 30% of the time, even while winning 50% of the tip.

Boston has only won 40% of the tip, but they’ve needed 1.6 shots to score their first bucket per game. Meanwhile, the Pistons have needed two shots per game.

Even if Detroit wins the tip, they’ll likely miss its first shot against the Celtics and then allow the Celtics to score first. That’s how most Detroit games have gone.

Jayson Tatum has scored five of Boston’s first baskets this season and has three first baskets in 10 starts. He’s taking 1.20 shots of the first three shots for Boston and has the most volume. Back Tatum to score first here.

Bet: Jayson Tatum (+390)

Phoenix Suns vs. Minnesota Timberwolves

The Timberwolves have won the tip 70% of the time and have scored the first field goal in 90% of their games.

Minnesota has played in 10 games and scored the first field goal in nine. Let that sink in. They needed 1.8 shots to score their first field goal.

D’Angelo Russell has taken 1.3 shots of the first three shots taken by Minnesota. He’s also scored the team’s first field goal in four games and has three first-field goals this season.

Despite this, Deandre Ayton, Devin Booker, and Anthony Edwards are all given a higher probability of scoring the first field goal. Let’s back Russell at +650 to score first. He’s been remarkably consistent in this market.

Bet: D’Angelo Russell (+650)
